The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of December in 1999

Self- Sacrifice Operation Crowns 165 Islamic-Resistance Operations in December 1999

This December, the resistance squadrons, particularly the Islamic Resistance, escalated their operations. The Islamic Resistance's unique operations began as the fighters confronted enemy forces in the surroundings of the occupied town of Rob Tleteen. The Islamic-Resistance fighters as well overcame the enemy's security and military measures, breaking into Sojod Site.

Yet, a momentous self-sacrifice operation crowned all 1999 operations;
Self-sacrifice martyr Ammar Hammoud's operation was of great military and political and military significance.

All in all, the resistance squadrons performed 190 military operations this month: "The Islamic Resistance" performed 166, and "the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation" performed 24.
Whereas the enemy said 5 "Israeli" soldiers and 6 Lahd militiamen were wounded, the Islamic Resistance said 7 more "Israeli" soldiers were killed and 6 others were wounded in the self-sacrifice operation.

Furthermore, a Zionist military source declared that a unit of "the Paratroopers Brigade" "mistakenly" opened fire on another "Israeli"-military patrol in the occupied region. No casualties were made, claimed the spokesman, pointing out that the paratroopers unit opening fire ceased fire as soon as they realized it was a mistake.

Information stated that on December 20, 1999, a Lahd-Militia patrol discovered 3 explosive bombs implanted by the road leading to Hasbaya Boulevard. Whereas Lahd militiamen encompassed the place, an "Israeli" expert on explosives uselessly tried over two hours to disassemble the explosive bombs.
The occupation command sent a big bulldozer to bury the explosive bombs in a big amount of soil. It was the first time such a thing happened, the information as well stated.

On another hand, the Islamic Resistance succeeded at freeing the pure remains of several Islamic-Resistance martyrs. Members of "the International Red Cross" and the UNIFIL took part in the search for the remains of the Resistance fighters (who had been martyred while confronting occupation forces.)
In different instances, the search forces retained the remains, which the Islamic Resistance received and processed a great funeral for. The martyrs whose pure remains were retained were:

-Ahmad Abdul Hassan Fouani, Ridwan Muhieddine Dougha, Hussein Mahmoud Qabalan (martyred while confronting enemy forces in Slouki Valley)
-Yusuf Ahmad Baddah (martyred during Operation Shamaa)
-Yusuf Abbas Rihan (martyred while confronting enemy forces near Shkief Fort)
-Moussa Mahmoud Ahmad Qarout, Hassan Ali Salemeh (martyred while confronting enemy force in Rob Tleteen Town)

Lebanese Brigades Perform Unique Operation, December 4, 1999

On December 4, 1999, "the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation" performed a unique operation. The Brigades fighters bombed a heavy explosive at the rampart of as-Suweidaa Site.

Meanwhile, other Brigades groups attacked as-Suweidaa Site. The fighters' rocket shells and machineguns resulted in casualties among the site mounds and fortifications, as well as the Lahd militiamen positioned at the site.

Resistance Confronts Enemy Forces in Rob Tleteen Outskirts, December 9, 1999

On December 9, 1999, several Islamic-Resistance groups violently clashed with the "Israeli" enemy soldiers and Lahd militiamen. Some fighters attacked a patrol squad and an "Israeli" motorcade in Rob Tleteen outskirts. Other Resistance fighters, too, attacked a motorcade in the surroundings of al-Mhaysbet Site and violently bombarded at-Taybeh Site.

In less than half an hour, the fighters twice attacked a force in the surroundings of Rob Tleteen. They also bombarded troops marshaled in the surroundings of at-Taybeh Site and motorcades on at-Taybeh-Rob Tleteen Route.
As other fighters clashed with a Zionist-Lahd force in Rob Tleteen, "Israeli" helicopters engaged in the battle.

The fighters' missiles as well hit a Zionist-Lahd force in Rob Tleteen region. Lying in ambush at the gate of Shkief Fort, the fighters blasted a squad. Other groups bombarded the sites of al-Qal'a and ad-Dabsheh.
At noon, the Islamic-Resistance artillery bombarded a motorcade entering Beit Yahoun Site and razed Braachit Site.

In the afternoon, the Resistance fighters' missiles hit a force at at-Taybeh Site and another in the surroundings of Rob Tleteen. The fighters hit the latter again in the evening. The Islamic Resistance confirmed 4 Lahd militiamen suffered casualties. The sites and military vehicles suffered damage, too.

For his part, an officer of the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon) reported that violent clashes went on for 4 hours. Tens of shells were launched in the outskirts of several towns, and "Israeli" aircraft engaged in the battle, carrying out a series of airstrikes along the deployment range of the Ghanaian Unit.

Resistance Fighters Break Into Sojod Site, December 15, 1999

After the enemy assailed many southern towns, the Islamic Resistance fiercely counterattacked Zionist-Lahd sites and patrols along the frontlines in the South and in West Beqaa.

The fighters did so though the enemy command had lately carried out intensive safety measures to protect the military sites, particularly Sojod Site; "the "Israeli" General Staff" itself supervised the defense plans devised for this site, which the Resistance fighters had broken into and went round many times.
So on December 15, 1999, groups of several Islamic-Resistance units fiercely attacked over 20 Zionist-Lahd sites.

For its part, a group of "the Islamic-Resistance Special Force" broke into Sojod Site. The group had made way through the site fortifications while "the Islamic-Resistance Fire Backup Unit" covered their backs. Having clashed with the site garrison and paralyzed them, the fighters posted Hizbullah's standards onto the site rampart and establishments.

For now, a group of "the Islamic-Resistance Enginery" penetrated the site, implanting heavy explosive bombs. And as all Resistance groups withdrew from the site, the fighters bombed the explosives, demolishing all mounds.
In the meantime, other groups of fighters struck the "Israeli" headquarters in al-Aychieh and ar-Rihan. The groups as well attacked the enemy sites of ad-Dabsheh, at-Taybeh, al-Qal'a, and Blat. Using different kinds of artillery, the fighters caused serious casualties to the headquarters and sites aforementioned.
Furthermore, other Islamic-Resistance groups fiercely attacked the Lahd headquarters of al-Herdoun, Teir Harfa, Braachit, Beit Yahoun, Haddatha, Hamayed, as-Salaa, and al-Mhaysbet.

Other Resistance groups, too, bombarded "Israeli" cannonade emplacements on Shreiqa Hill and in al-Aychieh and az-Zaffata. The fighters also bombarded "Israeli" motorcades in Kassaret el-Oroush and on ar-Rihan Hills.
Now warplanes engaged in the battle to rescue the overwhelmed forces.
Soon afterwards, the Islamic Resistance displayed a video tape. The fighters appeared breaking into the site and posting Hizbullah's standards onto it.
Though the enemy acknowledged the Islamic-Resistance fighters had dauntlessly opened their barrage on Zionist-Lahd sites, the enemy claimed there were "no casualties".

Fighter Ammar Hammoud's Self-Sacrifice Operation Marks "al-Qadr" Eve, December 30, 1999

The Islamic Resistance again triumphed versus the enemy; martyr Ammar Hussein Hammoud performed a self-sacrifice operation on December 30, 1999.
Fighter Hammoud performed the self-sacrifice operation at the beginning of al-Qadr Eve on the 22nd of the holy month of Ramadan. That eve was meant, too, to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Ali (Pbuh), and the following day, ceremonies for "al-Quds (Jerusalem) International Day" (declared by Imam Khomeini (May Allah bless his pure soul)) were going to be held.
Having faith in the Believers' Prince Imam Ali (Pbuh), self-sacrifice fighter Ammar Hammoud blasted his vehicle exactly at 5:17 p.m. The blast targeted an "Israeli" motorcade at al-Qlai'a-ad-Demashkiyeh, Marjeeyoun Crossroads. A truck was demolished, and 7 "Israeli" soldiers on board of it were killed at once. The other convoy soldiers were wounded.

Further details on the operation state that the fasting, calm fighter Hammoud drove his vehicle to a main road in the village of al-Qlai'a, where he had driven several times before. Though the enemy carried out strict security measures to protect their soldiers at the heart of the occupied region, the fighter's vehicle approached the "Israeli" motorcade. Having loaded his vehicle with 250 kg of explosive ammunition, fighter Hammoud blasted it as soon as it paralleled the motorcade.

Sources in the occupied region confirmed the surviving- yet hysterically panicked- "Israeli" soldiers shot bullets as their screams filled the air. Instantly, a big number of "Israeli" forces encompassed the operation zone; whereas helicopters and ambulances evacuated the dead and wounded.
Furthermore, the occupation forces arrested many civilians that had been near the operation zone. Investigations were meant to find out the way the self-sacrifice martyr managed to reach that region, also whether he received any help inside the occupied region.

Trying not to attract attention, the Zionist enemy hauled the demolished truck away from the operation zone. The enemy's media were not allowed to declare results on the operation outcomes; the media rather claimed "one" soldier and other "civilians" were wounded.

All evidence, nevertheless, pointed out it was a different story. Besides, the scenes displayed by the enemy's channel made it clear a truck was demolished and a helicopter was transporting the Zionist casualties.

The Lahd Militia's "Middle East Channel" reported a "Range Rover" targeted an "Israeli" patrol in the south of al-Qlai'a Town. The channel claimed "two" "Israeli" soldiers and other "civilians" were wounded. The operation was performed away from any houses or civilians, though.

On another hand, a Zionist source in occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) claimed "no" casualties were made. Soon, the same source claimed "only one" soldier was wounded. However, the scenes on the operation outcomes, displayed by the enemy's channel, showed over 7 casualties being carried in stretchers.
For its part, the Islamic Resistance issued 3 statements on the operation details and outcomes. The operation resulted in the death or injury of 15 Zionist soldiers and officers at least, including a senior officer, declared the Resistance.
In the third statement, the Islamic Resistance confirmed that seven "Israelis" on the Mercedes vehicle were killed. Significantly, this was the first self-sacrifice operation since 1996.

Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced the self-sacrifice hero's name during a celebration marking "al-Quds (Jerusalem) International Day" as the self-sacrifice martyr's father attended the celebration. Remarkably, martyr Ammar Hammoud's brother, Muhammad, was an Islamic-Resistance fighter, too; he was martyred earlier.

Four Islamic-Resistance Fighters Martyred in December 1999

-Moussa Mahmoud Ahmad Qarout, Hassan Ali Salemeh: martyred on December 9, 1999 while heroically confronting enemy forces in Rob Tleteen
-Belal Melhem al-Bazzal: martyred on December 26, 1999 while confronting occupation forces in Kfarhouna

-Ammar Hussein Hammoud: hero performing self-sacrifice operation on December 30, 1999 at al-Qlai'a-ad-Demashkiyeh-Marjeeyoun Crossroads

Brilliant Islamic-Resistance Self-Sacrifice Martyr Ammar Hammoud Marks al-Qadr Eve, "al-Quds International Day"

By Muhammad el-Husseini

Thirteen years ago, the Islamic Resistance again triumphed versus the enemy. At the very end of 1999, only five months before the enemy withdrew from most of the occupied Lebanese lands, martyr Ammar Hussein Hammoud performed a self-sacrifice operation on December 30, 1999.

Martyr Hammoud's operation struck an "Israeli" military motorcade at al-Qlai'a-ad-Demashkiyeh-Marjeeyoun Crossroads. All vehicles were demolished, and each soldier on board suffered death or injury.

The operation timing was of political and military significance, especially now that on the 3rd of December, 2000, the so-called "Settlement Process" was declared.
Thus was the operation at the beginning of al-Qadr Eve on the 22nd of the holy month of Ramadan. That eve was meant, too, to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Ali (Pbuh), and the following day, ceremonies for "al-Quds (Jerusalem) International Day" (declared by Imam Khomeini (May Allah bless his pure soul))were going to be held. So the operation was named "Self-Sacrifice Operation of "al-Qadr Eve".

Operation Details

Having faith in the Believers' Prince Imam Ali (Pbuh), self-sacrifice fighter Ammar Hammoud started his "Range Rover" exactly at 5:17 p.m. The fasting, calm fighter headed to a main road in the village of al-Qlai'a. Then he overcame all "Israeli" security measures at the heart of the occupied region.

As soon as his "Range Rover" paralleled the convoy, a massive explosion thundered. A truck was demolished, and 7 "Israeli" soldiers on board of it were killed at once. The other convoy soldiers were wounded.
The explosive bomb contained 250 kg of strongly-explosive ammunition that destroyed a zone of 30-40-m-diameter, military sources said. The explosion speed was 6,000-7,000 m/s, and the temperature reached 3,000˚C-4,000˚C, the sources pointed out.

Enemy Goes Hysterical, Launches Investigations

Sources in the occupied region confirmed the surviving- yet hysterically panicked- "Israeli" soldiers shot bullets as their screams filled the air. Instantly, a big number of "Israeli" forces encompassed the operation zone; whereas helicopters and ambulances evacuated the dead and wounded.

Trying not to attract attention, the enemy hauled the demolished truck away. The enemy's media were not allowed to declare the operation outcomes, claiming "one" "Israeli" soldier and other "civilians" were wounded. However, scenes displayed by the enemy's channel and the Lahd Militia's "Middle East Channel" showed over 7 casualties being carried in stretchers.

The occupation forces arrested many of the residents living near the operation zone. Chief of "General Staff" Shaul Mofaz commanded that investigation committees be formed. The committees were headed by Chief of the so-called "Northern Region" Gabi Ashkenazi. The investigations focused on the way the self-sacrifice martyr reached the operation zone, also the way he managed to get his vehicle there.

Sayyed Nasrallah Proudly Announces News on Operation

For its part, the Islamic Resistance issued 3 statements on the operation details and outcomes. The blast hit a Zionist motorcade of a military Mercedes truck, 2 common cars, and a "Hummer", declared the Resistance, adding that the operation resulted in the death or injury of 15 Zionist soldiers and officers at least, including a senior officer.

The Islamic Resistance also declared that seven "Israelis" on the Mercedes vehicle were killed. As for the rest of the "Israelis" on the motorcade, they were wounded.
Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced the self-sacrifice hero's name during a celebration marking "al-Quds (Jerusalem) International Day" as the self-sacrifice martyr's father attended the celebration. His Eminence said the self-sacrifice martyr's father was willing to get his five other sons martyred (now that his sons, Ammar and Muhammad, were martyred.) The father even said his wife and he would be ready to get martyred in case those 5 sons were martyred. He then remarked that his son, Ammar, requested that his brothers be allowed to go on with their jihad and resistance.

Operation Outcomes, Messages

Now that this operation was the first since "the (1996) April Aggression" (also known as "Operation Grapes of Wrath"), it deeply shocked the Zionist entity's military, security, and political commands.

Prior to the operation, "Israel" thought the strict measures it applied prevented the Islamic Resistance from setting targets and reaching them anymore. "Israel" had also changed the military tactics involving the transport of vehicles and soldiers; Most of the time, military helicopters rather than motorcades transported soldiers and ordnance so as to avoid any ambushes, artillery attacks, and explosive bombings by the Islamic Resistance. The enemy commanders as well rode armored civil vehicles while moving around the occupied region.
Quite remarkably as well, the Islamic-Resistance fighters still had the initiative in hand and could strike anytime, no matter how seriously the political circumstances changed. That is, the aim was striking the enemy whenever it was the right setting. As this was the Islamic Resistance's message to the enemy's (former) Prime Minister Ehud Barak, he declared he intended to withdraw his troops from Lebanon in summer in 2000.
