The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of July in 1999

Islamic Resistance Performs 57 Operations in July 1999

This July, the Lebanese resistance squadrons performed 112 operations against the occupation forces and Lahd agents: "The Islamic Resistance" performed 57, "the Amal Movement" 52, and "the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation" 1.

The Islamic-Resistance operations killed an "Israeli" soldier and a Lahd militiaman and wounded 3 other Lahd militiamen, the enemy acknowledged. Besides, the enemy claimed an "Israeli" soldier was wounded and another was killed "as their tank turned upside down on ar-Rihan Hill"; also that an "Israeli" soldier and 3 Lahd militiamen were wounded and another militiaman killed "as an ambushing "Israeli" force mistakenly clashed with a Lahd patrol on ad-Dardara-al-Motelleh Route".
The Islamic Resistance said one more militiaman was wounded in addition to the casualties the enemy had acknowledged. The Islamic Resistance also declared the martyrdom of three of its fighters.

Some information said the "Israeli" tank turning upside down on July 9, 1999 was on a mission: The tank was supposed to protect a group of the "Israeli" enginery while the group implanted explosives on Kfarhouna Route, across from the liberated regions.

Having accomplished the mission and heading to ar-Rihan Hill, the group detected suspicious moves and thought the Resistance fighters had just ambushed them. Thus, both of the armored force and the enginery group got confused and began to shoot fire randomly all over the place. This made the Merkava tank turn upside down. A crewman positioned at the watch tower, First Sergeant Ram Rogemberg was killed at once, and another was seriously wounded and transported on board of a helicopter to "Ram Bam Hospital" in Haifa.
The next day, an armored vehicle hauled the tank. Chief of the so-called "Northern Command" Gabi Ashkenazi formed an investigation committee to investigate into the incident.

Some days later, it was revealed that the sergeant aforementioned was killed moments after the tank had turned upside down. He was mysteriously killed by a bullet of his own rifle.

Furthermore, on July 9, 1999, the Islamic-Resistance vigilant fighters foiled another massacre by the Zionists. That is, "the Islamic-Resistance Enginery" detonated the mine series implanted by the occupation forces along the route matching Kfarhouna with its crossing point. The mines were meant to massacre civilian passers-by.

The Islamic Resistance issued a statement, declaring it was "the International Red Cross" that detected the explosives and asked Hizbullah to prevent a tragedy from hitting any passers-by.

On another hand, the overwhelmed occupation forces and Lahd agents clashed over half an hour on July 28, 1999: An ambushing "Israeli" force clashed with a Lahd-Militia patrol on ad-Dardara-al-Motelleh Route, near al-Khiyam Town.
The clashed killed a Lahd militiaman and wounded three others and a Zionist officer. Besides, the incident raised tension in the occupied region. Trying to make the incident appear as "insignificant", the enemy said the Lahd Militia had "committed a mistake".

The enemy sources declared the clash, however. A military spokesman said fire "was mistakenly opened" on an "Israeli"-military force on a mission in the West Sector of the occupied region. A Lahd security militiaman and 3 others on a vehicle opened fire on the "Israeli" soldiers, who counterattacked the militiamen, the spokesman added. It was said that the militiaman killed was Carlos Salemeh (20 years old) from al-Qlai'a Town, also that the wounded ones were Amine Saeed (20 years old), Shahine Salemeh (20 years), and Georges Eid (20 years).

Operation Aita al-Shaab, July 13, 1999

On July 13, 1999, the Islamic Resistance blasted the vehicle of Lahd security officer Ahmad Shibli Saaleh (51 years old). Agent Shibli was en route to Aita al-Shaab Town. His vehicle was demolished, and the Lahd Militia acknowledged he was seriously wounded.

Security sources in Sour (Tyr) said Saaleh had been on a security motorcade which included 4 civil vehicles. Three of his sons were on the camouflage motorcade, as well as five of his assistants: Hussein Yusuf Shibli Saaleh, Fadl Shibli Saaleh, Ali Hassan Jawad, Ezzat Ali Jawad, and Hassan Ahmad Mansour. Another security officer was on the motorcade, too.
Agent Saaleh had so far "served" the occupation military for 22 years. He had been in charge of the towns of Aita ash-Shaab, al-Kawzah, Ramieh, Beit Lif, Ainata, and Aitaroun.

Lahd Officer Shibli was seriously wounded in the earlier 1985 attack, which the Islamic Resistance carried out on al-Hoqban Hill. Then, the occupation forces hadn't withdrawn.

Fighters Confront Enemy Forces in West Beqaa, July 17, 1999

On July 17, 1999, the Islamic-Resistance Fighters violently clashed with a Zionist commando force. A while earlier, the 12 commandoes passed by Kawkaba Site (on Kawkaba Hill), near Hasbaya Town. Then they headed to Mazra'et al-Ahmadieh.
Escorting the lurking commando force were armored patrols deployed in the surroundings of Kawkaba Site. Having exposed the commandoes' move, an Islamic-Resistance group set a perfectly camouflaged ambush.

As soon as the commandoes approached the ambush, the fighters opened the fire of different arms. Now the clash developed involved artillery; the Resistance artillery bombarded Kawkaba Site (on Kawkaba Hill) and the surrounding area, where the commandoes had spread and were now beginning to withdraw.
As an "Israeli" force tried to rescue the commandoes' casualties, the fighters opened a barrage of fire on the rescue force. So aircraft engaged in the battle to cover the evacuation of casualties.

Fighters engaging in the battle confirmed the "Israeli" commandoes suffered 4 casualties.
Another Islamic-Resistance statement declared the fighters targeted Lahd-"Israeli" troops marshaled in the outskirts of Qilya Hills. The fighters absolutely held the force under fire, preventing it from moving at all.
Seeing that al-Ahmadieh Site was trying to back up the Lahd-"Israeli" force besieged, the fighters razed it.

Fighters Blast Kfarhouna Crossing Point, Force Lahd Agents Away, July 19, 1999

On July 19, 1999, the Islamic-Resistance fighters bombed an explosive at Kfarhouna Crossing Point. The blast resulted in serious casualties to the Lahd militiamen positioned there. Agent Kameel Badawi (from Hasbaya Town) was killed, as well as another whose corpse remained in the place for 15 minutes. Another militiaman was wounded, too.

According to the occupation military, Kfarhouna axis was dangerous. The military refused to send "Israeli" soldiers to "serve" there as they might have been targeted by the Resistance's escalating operations.
In fact, this decision pushed Lahd militiamen to inform the Lahd command they refuse to "serve" at Kfarhouna axis, particularly at Kfarhouna Crossing Point. Thus, the Lahd Militia withdrew from the crossing point to the main road near the "Israeli" ar-Rihan Site. There, the Lahd Militia set a new gate without any military establishments.

News said the Lahd Militia withdrew from Kfarhouna Crossing Point in consequence with the operation the Islamic Resistance performed. As agent Badawi was killed, the Lahd-Militia command and the occupation command were certain that any further positioning at the crossing point would result in more casualties among soldiers.

Though the occupation command tried to encourage the Lahd Militia to return to Kfarhouna axis, the Lahd Militia refused so. The militiamen said they did not want to return to "the danger zone", where no more "Israeli" forces were positioned.
A delegation of senior "Israeli" officers, including officers of "the Liaison Unit" checked the Zionist ar-Rihan Site, which had now become the site the enemy mainly depended on to confront the Resistance in the liberated region. This was against the "Israeli" custom as to making the Lahd sites face the greater danger rather than the "Israeli" sites.
The delegation seriously discussed withdrawing from ar-Rihan Site to al-Aychieh or al-Jarmak.

Operation al-Bayyada, July 22, 1999

On July 22, 1999, the Islamic-Resistance fighters blasted a heavy explosive while an "Israeli" military motorcade (of vehicles and buses) was on the way between Dahr el-Jamal Site (al-Bayyada Site) and ar-Raaheb Site, by the borders. A vehicle was directly hit, and each of the militants on it was killed or wounded.
A huge explosion occurred near the border fence along the Lebanese lands facing "Zarait Settlement", the "Israeli" radio acknowledged. Some hours later, the enemy channel claimed the explosion targeted a motorcade but "caused no casualties".

The enemy's "Channel 2", however, pointed out a bus transporting "Israeli" soldiers to a military site in Lebanon was hit.

Three Islamic-Resistance Fighters Martyred in July 1999

Abbas Muhammad Tofeili: On June 24, 1999, "Israeli" war planes assailed Lebanon, severely wounding fighter Tofeili. He was martyred on July 5, 1999.
Ali Abdullah Kareem, Ahmad Ibrahim Fadlullah: martyred on July 28, 1999 while fulfilling their jihad against the occupation forces.
