Sayyed Nasrallah on Tree Campaign Closing Ceremony: Why Does Bellemare Insist on Protecting False Witnesses?

One million trees all planted and stand firm on Lebanon's land ... the one million trees of 2010. The very last of these trees, Hizbullah Secretary General H.E. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah planted with his hands in front of his residence that was destructed by the Zionist enemy during the July aggression.

Jihad Al Binaa Development Association (JBDA) held its closing ceremony of the "one million tree campaign" on Saturday,  indeed a beginning of a new project "Pledge" which according to JBDA's general manager is a project to plant a tree in front of every house.

Following verses of the Holy Quran, JBDA's General Manager Mohammad Haj gave a speech in which he thanked Hizbullah SG Sayyed Nasrallah. He assured that Sayyed Nasrallah appearing on television screens with a shovel in his hands, planting and watering a small tree outside his home in the southern suburbs of Beirut is a message of steadfastness and faith that strengthens the resistance.

Following Haj's speech a video report worth a thousand words was aired on the mobilization of human resources and volunteers to make Lebanon "ever" green and plant along with every green plant a healthier life and culture.

Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah then appeared on the giant screen in Al Qaem complex to welcome the audience and start his speech.
Sayyed Nasrallah addressed three different topics the first of which is the forestation of Lebanon, the second, Iranian president's upcoming visit to Lebanon and the last of which is the latest developments on the political level, the tribunal in particular.

Hizbullah SG said that Lebanon should tackle the forestation issue, which is a big and important national concern, pointing out that is why Hizbullah and JBDA coordinated with the agriculture ministry and municipalities.

"Israel", during the different aggressions cut and burned the trees of Lebanon which demonstrates the significance of this "defense shield" to Lebanon and the resistance, Sayyed Nasrallah said.

Therefore, Sayyed highlighted the importance of trees and greenery on the demographic level, emphasizing that the geographic nature of Lebanon makes it a nature of defense which is essential in the war with the Zionist enemy.

He pointed out the need not only to plant new trees but also to expand the planting of these trees and preserving them, stressing the different benefits of forestation.

Sayyed Nasrallah tackled the environmental changes and global warming, a concern not only to Lebanon but the entire world as it constitutes a threat to existence.

He thanked all those who participated in the campaign, particularly the resistance fighters in the South and the Bekaa who planted trees in the steep valleys and mountains; as these are still areas that contain hundreds of cluster bombs remaining from the Zionist aggression on Lebanon.

Sayyed highlighted the cooperation with Syria on this level that has been developing during the past years, as these trees were a gift from Syrian President Bashar Al Assad to Lebanon.

Green is one of Lebanon's special traits and particularities, that according to Sayyed Nasrallah is unfortunately fading due to desertification. Hizbullah SG said that this trait should be preserved and that all the Lebanese must put effort into recovering Lebanon's greenness.

Sayyed Nasrallah also highlighted the religious aspect of forestation, reciting some of the prophetic sayings that demonstrate the benefits of planting in life and the hereafter.

Iranian President's visit to Lebanon

On the upcoming visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hizbullah SG called for a wide participation in the reception of this great leader who just like the previous Iranian leaders supports Lebanon on the different levels.

He said that President Ahmadinejad is Lebanese President Michel Suleiman's guest and that We all have to be hospitable in welcoming him.

Sayyed Nasrallah underlined that since the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran, the Islamic republic has been supporting Lebanon, Palestine and the region, but the Arab governments have not even said Thank You.

His Eminence also highlighted the role of the Iran in reconstructing Lebanon after the 2006 Zionist aggression and that its role was unprecedented, addressing the Iranian committee for works as well, which took care of public works and infrastructure and realized a great deal of reconstruction during the past 4 years.

As for the controversial issue of equipping the army, Sayyed Nasrallah said that no one is forced to accept cooperation with Iran on this issue, and that there is no need to put conditions in the face of this donor state, while earlier other donor states did put conditions that Lebanon accepted. He said that despite the fact that Iran presented help during the past 30 years to Lebanon without asking for anything in return, some in Lebanon keep priority to their political views.

We want The Truth and True Justice

Hizbullah SG Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah then moved on to the political level, referring to the special tribunal for Lebanon, the indictment and the false witnesses that some have been trying to deny and ignore in Lebanon.

His Eminence said that all the Lebanese want the truth, and rather want true justice, pointing out that without truth there would be no justice, but rather injustice as that practiced against Syria and the Four Generals throughout four years.

Sayyed Nasrallah addressed the Lebanese, asking them if the UN-backed probe can make us reach the truth or will it make us reach deception, acquitting the murderer and criminalizing the friend and the brother.

His Eminence also questioned the UN flagrant interference as Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs Patricia O'Brien who urged the Special Tribunal for Lebanon not to grant Lebanese former General Security Chief Major General Jamil Sayyed access to investigation documents despite a previous verdict.

Hizbullah SG also wondered why the insistence of Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL) General Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare in Lebanon on protecting the false witnesses, reassuring the need to put them on trial, saying that the way the lebanese judiciary has been dealing with the false witnesses issue proves it aims at procrastination.

As for more developments on the indictment and the STL, Sayyed Nasrallah said he will be discussing in an upcoming press conference in the coming few weeks.
