Hizbullah S.G. Sayyed Nasrallah: Lebanon Pushed into Very Sensitive, Delicate, Complicated Stage

Hizbullah Secretary General started his press conference Thursday night in presence of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc Members as well as a number of journalists and Media personals, stressing that he wanted to address not only the media but also the people, so that they hear him well rather than read or hear quotes of him from the different sources, whether those that deliver quotes with loyalty or the others that fabricate the meaning of his words.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the Lebanon has been pushed into a very sensitive, delicate and complicated stage, with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) being behind that. His Eminence highlighted the right of the resistance to defend itself regardless of those who "philosophize" and claim that he who defends himself confesses his crime.
Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say that an indictment had already been written, even before the investigation- into the assassination of Former PM Rafiq Hariri- and before Hizbullah members were interrogated as witnesses.
Yet, Sayyed said that the issuance of this indictment was delayed for political reasons. In a flashback to the month of September, Sayyed Nasrallah said that PM Saad Hariri before leaving to Paris, told him that anindictment will be issued and it will implicate "undisciplined members of Hizbullah".
His Eminence slammed those who protested his speech last Friday, adding that they do not want Hizbullah to speak before the issuance of the indictment. He also said that Hizbullah decisively and firmly rejects any accusations against Hizbullah members.
As soon as former PM was assassinate, Sayyed said highlighted that the media were ready to accuse Syria and the four Generals in the crime.
He said that there is a new scheme that targets the Resistance, Lebanon and the region, and that an indictment will be eventually issued in accordance with this scheme that has been prepared for the region, yet he said this indictment would be postponed for political reasons rather than issued in the coming September or October.
Sayyed Nasrallah reminded that the target was the resistance, which constitutes a major obstacle for any settlement that allows a U.S. and "Israeli" hegemony against the Palestinians.
He called upon the March 14 powers to reconsider their stances and policies as these have affected Lebanon and the region. On the other hand, Sayyed Nasrallah praised the courage of PSP Leader Walid Jumblatt as he made a clear and public review while being certain of what he is doing. Sayyed said that those parties have to admit and clearly say they have made serious mistakes since 2005 and that it is not enough to call for good and normal relations with Syria which is the case today in 2010.
Sayyed called upon these powers, wondering if they have enough courage to admit they have made mistakes.
Hizbullah Secretary General said that the sectarian incitement these powers caused is unprecedented in 100 years of Lebanon's history.
He said that in 2005, the March 14 leadership immediately accused Syria of the Hariri assassination without any proof, where Syria was isolated for quite some time, upon false accusations and it tolerated so much. Sayyed continued that today, these very same forces call for normal relations with the latter, highlighting that this will not pass that easily. He questioned what guarantees that they (March 14 powers) will not take the country towards more muddles in the coming four or five years.
Sayyed Nasrallah then addressed the general elections phase in 2005, when the March 14 powers entitled anyone supporting Gen. Michel Aoun (as he was an ally and supporter of Syria back then) and his allies as "Killers of Hariri". He continued that the elections took place based on a false accusation to Syria and its allies in Lebanon (like the case of Aoun), which in their turn brought to light a government that took decisions. He also wondered what was the guilt of all the opposition that included Hizbullah members and the Sunni brothers in the country.
He then addressed ruinous results of all based on false accusations, as the March 14 racist speech led to the killing of several Syrian laborers in Lebanon, served in isolating then President Emile Lahoud - who tolerated a lot- stimulated to occupy the Presidential palace in Baabda, toppled then PM Omar Karameh government, isolated some judges, threw four innocent generals in jail for four years.
As for the accusations, Sayyed said that when one accuses, he should have evidence to back up his indictment otherwise the indictment is of no value. The one thing that has never changed is that there is still no evidence to indict Syria despite the false witnesses they brought to the investigation.
Sayyed Nasrallah then addressed the Lebanese in general, and the March 14 supporters in particular, saying that the Lebanese are victims of big schemes, schemes that are much bigger than Lebanon and the Lebanese.
He said that these political leaderships took the country to the most difficult stage in history during the past four and a half years, and questioned if the people are willing to follow their (these leaderships) lead if they do not make their review and correct their mistakes.
Hizbullah Secretary General concluded his speech saying that Hizbullah was not afraid of anything, even the STL indictment, highlighting that those who conspire against Lebanon and the resistance are the ones who should be concerned because more schemes will be thwarted. He urged those who miscalculated their moves to make the right calculations this time, assuring that the resistance has nothing to fear or worry about; especially that it knows the nature of the responsibility it carries.

On the role of Hariri and Saudi Arabia in affecting the STL indictment, Sayyed Nasrallah said that there is nothing much they can do other than tell those who are playing the ‘game of nations" that Lebanon cannot afford such a game. However, Hizbullah Secretary General said he will not ask them to do anything, and it is their call to do or say what they see as fit.
He also said he was not asking anyone to apologize, he only asked them to review and speak honestly to the audience. He pointed out that he has not called for the resignation of anyone yet but that he shall have his stance after the issuance of the indictment.
On another note, and in response to a question about Hizbullah respecting the STL decisions, the Secretary General did not confirm nor deny Hizbullah's respect to the tribunal's decisions. He said the resistance doubted the tribunal from the first day, and that was the main reason behind Hizbullah's request that the cabinet discuss the tribunal.
Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say that despite the fact that Hizbullah was not given enough time to study the bill, it backed the principle of establishing a court, but he said that Hizbullah cannot accept the court's decisions unless these were based on solid and true evidence, adding that the court does not seem to found its decisions on true evidence .
Upon a question on the Information Branch in his last speech, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed he did not attack the Information Branch. He said that he thanked it for its efforts put in arresting spies and agents, and only asked a question -which he said is his right.
He highlighted that the Information Branch is not providing false information, but its analyses of phone calls are not necessarily definite. He recalled that the same branch interrogated suspects of spying for the Zionist enemy, where some came out innocent and others confessed to their collaboration.
Sayyed Nasrallah questioned the attempts to portray Hizbullah as a party penetrated by "Israel", saying he will address this issue in the next press conference.
Hizbullah Secretary General concluded that the party has never, and will never wage war. He referred to the capturing of two "Israeli" soldiers in 2006, saying that such an act has never led to war throughout history. He finally pointed out that Hizbullah is a resistance movement that works on liberating the rest of its occupied land, and that it will defend its country like it always has.
