Fayyad: The Resistance has a liberating-defensive role against "Israel"

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad told Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday that his bloc said "The Resistance has a liberating-defensive role against "Israel" and it is not opposed to any Arab party benefiting from the balance [of power] game in order to weaken "Israel"," Fayyad said.

Also, he was hoping no one would express reservations with the Ministerial Statement, saying that there should have been a "unifying patriotic position" on the issue of the Resistance.

On Thursday, the drafting committee announced the statement had been finalized and Information Minister Tarek Mitri said all of the ministers were in general pleased with the text.

He also touched on the elimination of political sectarianism, stressing that it is inescapable from the implementation of the Taif Accord which includes a clause calling for the formation of a national council to eliminate political sectarianism.
