Moussawi: Kouchner thanked Hizbullah for its cooperation with UNIFIL

The International Relations official in Hizbullah Ammar Moussawi revealed the highlights of the contents of his meeting yesterday with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, pointing out that the meeting dealt primarily with the government formation and the "Israeli" violations, which form a blatant challenge to international law.

On the question of government formation, Moussawi clarified that he told Kouchner that Hizbullah's position is in favor of a national unity government, indicating that "The other team continue to hold onto obstacles, as they want the formation to take place as victors by weakening the opposition, specifically General Aoun, who has concerns about this approach."

Moussawi pointed out that he told Kouchner that "Most of the causes in the governmental crisis are internal, due to loss of confidence in whole or in part among the parties", adding that "Kouchner expressed his wish to assist in forming the government." In reply "We expressed our readiness to offer advice to our friends and to everyone involved, but that we do not dictate nor put pressure on anyone."

Regarding the other discussed topics, Moussawi said he spoke extensively with Kouchner on the "Israeli" threats, maneuvers and violations, pointing out that "According to international conduct of affairs it is unacceptable that ‘Israel' remains an exception, whereby it is not questioned, nor held accountable or punished, citing a case in point the question of Kouchner himself being prevented from visiting Gaza!" a behavior he described as "A shameless act to an international official, add to that the repeated ‘Israeli' violations such as the uncovered espionage networks, the bugging devices or the continued air violations of Lebanon."

Moussawi noted that Kouchner offered his greeting and thanked Hizbullah for its cooperation with the international forces, "UNIFIL", and said that he informed the French official of Hizbullah's ongoing willingness and openness to dialogue, even when opposing views prevail, describing dialogue as the gateway to dealing with crises.
