Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc issued the following statement today:

Since the Doha agreement, Lebanon has been making orderly steps to regain its health and internal stability. Following the election of General Michel Suleiman as President of the Lebanese Republic, the process of activating the function of constitutional institutions was launched into action; efforts were deployed after the formation of a national unity government to accomplish reconciliation and to spread an atmosphere of calm. National dialogue was resumed as the internal security situation improved, natural relations returned between Lebanon and brotherly and friendly nations, especially those closely concerned with its internal developments and those in the region.

The statement added: Successive visits by His Excellency the President to these countries had a lasting effect in showing the image of a healthy and stable Lebanon, a Lebanon that is keen to uphold its model of co-existence and the interaction in its cultural and political societal trends, whilst preserving a ceiling of civil peace and independent national choice, that stem from consensus among its sons.

After the successful presidential visits to Syria, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, followed by visits to some friendly countries and capitals of influence, comes the scheduled visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This reflects the openness of this presidential term and its yearning to build and strengthen beneficial relations for Lebanon that support its steadfastness and development.

This positive and supportive Iranian role of the Lebanese people, resistance and army in response to the Zionist occupation, threats and ambitions, are no secret to anyone. Whether through supporting Lebanon's internal civil peace and accord, the help extended to achieve the understanding reached in Doha or the reconstruction contributions to build what was demolished by the aggressive Zionist war in July 2006.

Iran today, being a rising regional power, open to right, justice and freedom issues in our region and the world, it is in Lebanon's interest to strengthen and develop its relations with Iran for the service of the common interests of both peoples and countries. We count on this visit to contribute in overcoming invented obstacles aimed at derailing this visit.

In this atmosphere of celebration of Independence Day, we stress that the interests of a sovereign free Lebanon lie in establishing advanced relations with all brotherly and friendly countries, especially those that are always at its side, those who actually oppose hostile Zionist plots continuously targeting Lebanon for the cultural antithesis Lebanon represents to the underlying racist fabric the Zionist entity is built upon.
