The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc denounced the "unjustified slowdown" of incumbent Prime Minister Fouad Siniora in forming the national unity government.
The bloc underlined the importance of expediting the formation, especially given the dangers of the security incidents in different regions across Lebanon.

After a meeting on Wednesday led by MP Mohammad Raad, the bloc said it "deeply regretted the tense, sectarian discourse" employed by pro-government leaders in northern Lebanon. Such speech, the bloc said in a statement, indicated the depth of the political deadlock and the conspiracy against Lebanon.

"The national unity government is the sole means of restoring political normalcy in the country, and the prime minister is charged with the task of speeding up the formation and overcoming claims of complexities," the bloc said.

The Lebanese opposition had submitted a set of proposals to facilitate the task of forming the government, the statement added, calling on the pro-government group to respond positively.
The bloc also called for an immediate amendment of the electoral law as agreed on in Doha, and said it fully supported a legislative session on the matter as soon as possible.

"The resistance is jihad, a belief, patriotism, and a legitimate responsibility, and the ruling team cannot lead it [the resistance] into the behavior of their militias, which are nothing but futile, reckless and a cheap means of sustenance," the statement concluded.
