On the seventh night of Muharram, Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah assured that "the self-sacrifice operation that was executed by martyr Ahmad Qassir on the 11th of November 1982 was the beginning of Resistance victories.
Addressing thousands of people in Sayyed al-Shuhada complex in Beirut's Dahiyeh (Southern Suburb) via a giant screen, Sayyed Nasrallah added that the Qassir operation put the "Israeli" scheme against Lebanon on the track of failure and defeat."
"This operation was the base for all martyrdom operations, also paved the way for victory, particularly the 2000 liberation of Lebanon," Sayyed Nasrallah asserted.
The Resistance leader recalled what had happened on 11-11-1982, narrating "On that day, and while Lebanon was under "Israeli" occupation, Ahmad Qassir executed a qualitative operation, an extraordinary one as he rode his car loaded with explosives and targeted the headquarters of the "Israeli" military governor [in the coastal city of Tyr in South Lebanon]. The operation destroyed the building and killed more than 120 soldiers and generals of the "Israeli" occupation army. It was one of the major operations that fed "Israel" a huge defeat since its occupation to Lebanon."
Reminding of the "Israeli" disappointment, Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say "We all remember how [Ariel] Sharon, at that time a war minister, along with other major "Israeli" Generals expressed grief and letdown! He had thought "Israel" had took over Lebanon forever."
Moreover, Sayyed Nasrallah clarified "After the Qassir operation, other self-sacrifice martyrs stepped in; they belonged to Hizbullah, Amal movement, as well as other Resistance factions and powers. Hence, they fed "Israel" more defeats," adding "These sacrifices grew, and along with them came dignity and triumph."
"Through our fight with "Israel", we can see commitment to what founder of the Islamic revolution imam Ruhollah Khomeini and leader of the Islamic revolution Imam Ali Khamenei had iterated: we seek afterlife, and when we take the decision to engage in battle we go back to our jurists in all details, we do not take, not even one step, unless we know it pleases Allah the almighty."
