"Israeli" Maariv daily mentioned in its issue released on Tuesday that "Israel" is concerned from France and Britain's calls to arm insurgents in Syria, reporting, "in deliberations held in the last few days between "Israel" and representatives of both countries, "Israel" expressed fear that the weapon delivered to rebels to overthrow the Syrian regime will later be used against "Israel"."

The paper further mentioned, "The French President Francois Hollande, in cooperation with Britain and Jordan, called on to lift the international embargo preventing the transfer of arms and ammunition to armed groups fighting the Syrian regime."

It pointed out, "The final decision was not yet taken, however "Israel" displayed reservations regarding this step."
"The US had armed "the Afghani Jihadists", to help them fight the Soviet Union, but amidst these organizations, al-Qaeda was established and used its experience and weaponry against the US and the West. This phenomena is similar to Mali today, where France fights armed fundamentalist groups which carry French weapons," according to Maariv.

Moreover, the daily cited a western diplomatic source well-informed on the French-British initiative as saying that both France and Britain fathom "Israeli" fears, stating, "Both countries acknowledge these dangers," stressing, "Until now, no final decision has been made."
"In case arms were transferred to rebels in Syria, this will happen in high precision, so that this weapon will not fall into the wrong hands, and the quality of weapons will also be taken into consideration in order to prevent such scenarios," the source stated.

For his part, "Israeli" former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dani Ayalon stated, "The arms that will be transferred today for rebels against Assad, will slip to Jordan, Lebanon, then Iraq," underscoring, "Syria today seems like Afghanistan in the 80s, since fighters all over the world came to it."
