The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of September in 1998...

Islamic Resistance Performs 66 Operations in September 1998

The Lebanese resistance squadrons performed 113 operations against the occupation forces and the Lahd Militia: The Islamic Resistance performed 66; the Amal Movement 41; the National Resistance Front 2; the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation 2. Media also reported an operation which none declared responsibility for; a Zionist patrol was blasted in Sojod-ar-Rihan axis, and an "Israeli" soldier was wounded.

The enemy acknowledged that 2 "Israeli" soldiers and 6 Lahd militiamen were killed and that 4 "Israeli" soldiers and 8 Lahd militiamen were wounded. The enemy, however, claimed that 2 "Israeli" soldiers were killed and 2 others wounded in different "accidents".

On the other hand, the Resistance sources confirmed the same number of casualties, but reported what the enemy did not acknowledge: One more militiaman was killed and another was captured.

Operation Kawkaba, September 9, 1998

On September 9, 1998, the Islamic Resistance blasted a Zionist-Lahd motorcade at the entrance of Kawkaba Site (also known as al-Ahmadieh Site) in the West Sector. The enemy acknowledged the operation, declaring Major George Saad and Lieutenant Shafik el-Osfour were killed; also that 4 others were wounded, among who was the Lahd commander of "Battalion 30". His situation was critical, added the enemy.

Operation Ain Majdaline, September 10, 1998

On September 10, 1998, the Islamic-Resistance fighters blasted a military Jeep on Majdaline-Toumet Niha Route. The Jeep was part of the motorcade of Jezzine's Lahd security officer Joseph Karam, nicknamed "Alloush".
Though Alloush was not on the motorcade then, 4 Lahd officers assisting Alloush were killed: Hanna Hanna, Roukoz Roukoz, George Shimon, and Eskandar Heikal, the enemy acknowledged.

Lahd agent Ghassan Khouri was wounded, too, security sources said.
Commenting on the operation, Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naeem Qassem confirmed, "The Islamic Resistance shall keep hunting down all Lahd militiamen just like all "Israeli" soldiers along the occupied lands.
Islamic Resistance Makes Enemy Evacuate Toumet Niha Site, September 16, 1998
This September, the enemy evacuated Toumet Niha Site and bombed its mounds and fortifications; the Lahd militiamen refused to serve there. This, in fact, took place after the Islamic Resistance had carried out a series of strong operations against the site, the last of which was the unique operation Ain Majdaline-Toumet Niha, which killed 4 Lahd militiamen.

"The repeated, painful strikes which Lahd "Battalion 20" received, especially the recent strikes against Toumet Niha, have essentially overwhelmed the Lahd militiamen. All earlier attempts of the "Israeli" enemy forces to support the Lahd militiamen financially and morally have been useless," an Islamic-Resistance officer commented on the evacuation.
For its part, "as-Safir Newspaper", issued on September 18, 1998, reported the plan of withdrawal from Toumet Niha Site, which the enemy had begun to accomplish 48 hours earlier:

-On Wednesday morning, military equipment in mounds and surveillance posts was disassembled. In the afternoon, vehicles were hauled, every 3 at a time. At 7:00 p.m., Chief of "the Northern Command" Gabi Ashkenazi, heading a military delegation, reached the site and stayed there around three hours. Two helicopters then landed down to escort Ashkenazi while war planes covered them up.

On Thursday dawn, the last set of equipment was hauled. Then a team of the enginery implanted bombs in the surveillance towers and the fortified-concrete site mounds. Positioned distantly enough from the site, the team blasted the bombs at 3:30 p.m.

Approximately an hour later, the enginery men withdrew from the site surroundings. War planes had hovered intensively in the zone.
The occupation forces established a new site, to which the force withdrawing from Toumet Niha Site moved. The new site lied near Majdaline in Jezzine District, 4 kilometers south of Toumet Niha Site, "as-Safir" added.

On September 17, 1998, several Islamic-Resistance fighters made it to a distance of a few meters from the evacuated site without getting shot.
The "Israeli" military established Toumet Niha Site after it withdrew from Beqaa in 1985. The site was the only one in West Beqaa, and it overlooked the surrounding towns. The enemy actually lost a direct frontline with the Resistance fighters usually positioned in that sector. Therefore, the towns of Srayre, al-Qatrani, and Mazra'et el-Mahmoudiyeh in Jezzine were now outside the occupied region.

Obviously, the enemy decided to evacuate this site after the Lahd-Militia command in Jezzine refused to handle missions of the site by itself. Around 50 Lahd militiamen had been wounded or killed in five years. It was now impossible to find militiamen ready to serve at the site.
Withdrawal from Toumet Niha Site opened way for the Resistance to reach Kfarhouna-Aramta axis as well as the route to Jezzine. Now that this axis was exposed, the fighters could reach Srayra Hills and keep the naked eye on Marjeeyoun and the north of occupied Palestine, security sources said.

Operation Deir Syriane, September 22, 1998

At dawn on September 22, 1998, an Islamic-Resistance group blasted a Zionist patrol by the course of the Litani River, in the north of occupied Deir Syriane Town. Each of five patrollers was killed or wounded, an Islamic-Resistance statement reported.

Half an hour after the operation, enemy helicopters landed down to evacuate the casualties.

The enemy claimed two soldiers were wounded and two others killed in three different incidents. The enemy's "Channel Two" claimed two soldiers were killed when their vehicle flipped into a canyon, also that their corpses were retained from the vehicle some hours after that.
Still, chief of the so-called "Lebanon Infantry" acknowledged, "The investigations revealed that neither was the vehicle technically defected, nor did the soldiers disobey the procedures required."

The "Israeli" Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz had visited the place to carry out a primary investigation into the incident.
For their part, Islamic-Resistance sources confirmed, "The operation zone was too rough for the Zionist helicopters to evacuate the casualties. Referring the evacuation to an armored vehicle, the enemy made another mistake; the vehicle slipped down to the canyon's bottom, and the rescue attempt only brought about more casualties. Therefore, Zionist aircraft carried out several airstrikes against the operation zone to demolish the vehicle and leave no sign of it."

Lebanese Brigades Attack Sojod Site, September 26, 1998

On September 26, 1998, two groups of the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation attacked Sojod Site. Positioned close to the site, a group of artillerists opened fire and demolished the site mounds. In the meantime, a group of the Fire-Backup Brigade bombarded the site, bringing about serious losses.
