The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of October in 1998...

Islamic Resistance Performs 74 Operations in October 1998

The Lebanese resistance squadrons increased their operations against the "Israeli" occupation forces and Lahd militiamen in West Beqaa and the South. The Islamic Resistance performed 74 ops, the Amal Movement 50, the Lebanese Brigades for Resisting the "Israeli" Occupation 10, and the Cyclone Organization 3. That meant the total number of operations was 137.

The enemy acknowledged 2 soldiers were killed and 8 wounded in Islamic-Resistance operations. The enemy also acknowledged a militiaman was killed and 3 others wounded.

The Islamic Resistance announced the same number of "Israeli" and Lahd casualties, but said one more Lahd militiaman was wounded.
On the other hand, two Islamic-Resistance fighters were martyred this month.
In more news, the specialized security sources in South Lebanon arrested Muhammad Reslan for collaborating with the enemy. "Reslan, in addition to Abdul Latif Muhammad Jaber (known as "Abu Alloush"), was forming a group of agents," the sources added, "The group's mission was collect information on the Lebanese military centers and the movements of the resistance fighters.

Operation Hasbaya, October 5, 1998

On October 5, 1998, the Islamic Resistance performed a daring, unique operation deep in the occupied region. The fighters bombed 2 explosives while a Zionist-Lahd motorcade was a few meters away from the headquarters of Lahd "Battalion 30" in Zaghleh. Two soldiers were killed, and 5 others and the colonel heading the motorcade were wounded.

The Zionists did not acknowledge this until the late night. Then, enemy sources reported more than an explosive had hit a motorcade of the "Israeli" military. The motorcade was en route to Hasbaya Site, only 500 meters away from it. Four armored vehicles transported soldiers of "Phalange 101" of "the Paratroopers Brigade", members of the communications unit, and soldiers of the intelligence arm. Two soldiers on a jeep were killed, and the colonel heading the motorcade was wounded.

In fact, this operation overwhelmed the occupation command and soldiers; thus, Chief of "the Northern Command" Gabi Ashkenazi in person headed an investigation committee along with other military commanders. In a statement, Ashkenazi said, "The explosives were implanted in two places, and they contained empty tubes and metal balls. Apparently, the explosives were wire-controlled and bombed by a Hizbullah cell distantly positioned." The investigations focused on finding the civilians cooperating with Hizbullah, Ashkenazi then added.
A Lahd officer resorted to the Lebanese authorities after another Lahd officer, Abbas Reslan, had joined forces with Hizbullah February and offered much information on the "Israeli" military and the Lahd Militia, "the Jerusalem Post" reported, adding that the information included the names of Lebanese people collaborating with the "Israeli" forces in the occupied region. The newspaper as well said that Hizbullah had collected exact information on the motorcade and had carefully planned for the operation.

The next day, "the Jerusalem Post" reported upon the statement of some analysts, "Hizbullah has chosen this particular operation zone on purpose; that is, the region containing the operation zone is considered quiet in general. Hizbullah has intended to arouse suspicions as to the relation between the "Israeli" military and the residents of that region. "Israeli" sources believe the residents might have helped Hizbullah.

Furthermore, "the Jerusalem Post" said, "The most serious problem the Northern Command now faces is the way to deal with the danger of explosive bombs in general. Military sources said the emptied explosives which Hizbullah used in the operation were made to penetrate armor and explode later, as in the case of the armored Jeep on which were the soldiers killed. The second problem the "Israeli" military is facing in South Lebanon is Hizbullah's capability to collect intelligential information.

Operation Hasbaya 2, October 9, 1998

On October 9, 1998, the Islamic Resistance blasted a Lahd vehicle 100 meters away from "the "Israeli" Liaison Center" in Hasbaya. Lahd officer Akram Hassan Wahab was seriously injured.
The fighters actually implanted the explosives near the spot where they implanted the explosives a few days earlier (during "Operation Hasbaya").
Lahd officer Wahab served at Zemrayyah Gate. Being on his way home from the Zionist-Lahd headquarters in Zaghleh after midnight, he reached "al-Ain Vicinity". Right then, the Islamic Resistance bombed an explosive, damaging his wine-colored BMW. Soon, several Zionist officers of "the Liaison Unit", as well as Lahd officers reached the operation zone and inspected it. Then they moved to Zaghleh Headquarters and held a meeting to discuss the military situation in Hasbaya.

Lebanese Brigades Perform Operation Rchaf, October 13, 1998

On October 13, 1998, a group of "the Lebanese Brigades for Fighting the "Israeli" Occupation" attacked Rchaf Site. The site, which belonged to "Battalion 80", was attacked with artillery. The site garrison, mounds, and fortifications suffered serious losses.
In the meantime, another group attacked Hamayed Site, bringing about serious casualties. Thus, enemy tanks joined forces.
For its part, the Lebanese-Brigades Fire Backup Unit bombarded both sites in the meantime.

Sayyed Nasrallah Honors Islamic-Resistance Fighters, October 27, 1998

On October 27, 1998, Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah honored a group of Islamic-Resistance officers and fighters of "the Brigade of the Islamic-Resistance Martyrs' Master Sayyed Abbas el-Moussawi", which is one of the special-forces brigades.
The officers and fighters had lately performed a series of daring, unique operations in West Beqaa, including the following: Operation ar-Rihan (targeting the shooting field of ar-Rihan Barracks), Operation Ain Majdaline, Operation Toumet Niha, Operation al-Ahmadieh, and Operation Zaghleh.

His Eminence offered "al-Hadi Trophy" and tokens to the officers and fighters before making a speech. His Eminence confirmed, "Jihad is the only way to free our land. You have performed these operations amid critical political and military circumstances. Therefore, these operations have been momentous." His Eminence then emphasized, "The Islamic Resistance shall perform its operations anywhere it wishes in the occupied region."
