The following are the Islamic-Resistance operations that took place during the month of January in 1997...

Islamic Resistance Performs 51 Operations in January, 1997

This January, the resistance squadrons performed 51 operations against the occupation forces and their agents. The Islamic Resistance performed 42 of these operations.
The enemy acknowledged 4 fatalities and 15 injuries, in addition to the injury of another soldier as the Merkava tank he was on "turned over" from the bank of the Arnoun Pond to its bottom.
On the other hand, the resistance declared the fatality of 4 Zionist soldiers and a Lahd militiaman, in addition to the injury of 17 Zionist soldiers and 6 Lahd militiamen.

Operation Deir Syriane, January 1, 1997

The Islamic-Resistance fighters monitored an "Israeli" force moving along Deir Syriane route. As it became darker, the "Israeli" soldiers came closer to each other, so the Resistance fighters bombed an explosive, killing or wounding each of the force members, who were later evacuated in sets by "Israeli" helicopters.
The fatalities were three: a lieutenant and 2 sergeants. Another "Israeli's" neck and face were hurt, and he lost an eye.
Hereupon, "the Northern Command" of the "Israeli" military formed a committee to investigate this accident, and Head of "the Liaison Unit" Amiram Levin inspected the operation zone.

In fact, it took the enemy hours to acknowledge the three fatalities: Lieutenant Yontal Tserkal (21 years old), Sergeant Neff Sedan (19 years), and Sergeant Rotam Sherbet.
The enemy's channel mentioned that the rescue operations lasted for long hours because of the bad weather, as well as the crossfire of the "Israeli" soldiers and Hizbullah fighters.
Head of "the Liaison Unit" Amiram Levin declared, "It's impossible to ignore we're suffering harsh repercussions of the war on Hizbullah. So far, the "Israeli" military has suffered so many losses. We're paying a great price for this!"

Operation Deir Syriane-as-Salaa Site, January 2, 1997

On January 2, 1997, the Islamic Resistance performed an operation against Deir Syriane-as-Salaa Site. The fighters bombed an explosive while a Lahd infantry was patrolling. Meanwhile, the Fire Backup Unit bombarded as-Salaa Site.
The enemy acknowledged that 4 infantrymen were wounded, the wounds of two among who were serious.
Other security sources mentioned that a Lahd militiaman was killed and 3 others were wounded.

Deir Syriane Confrontation, Operation Abu Rashed, January 8, 1997

While an "Israeli" commando force was infiltrated into the liberated regions near Deir Syriane Site, a group of the Amal Movement encountered it. Violent confrontations went on.
In the meantime, the Islamic-Resistance Fire Backup Unit bombarded the routes which the enemy forces had taken, preventing any relief forces from reaching the operation zone.
The confrontation resulted in the death of an occupation soldier and the injury of 6 others.

Three Amal-Movement fighters were martyred.
On the same day, the Islamic Resistance bombed with explosive while Zionist troops of "the Egoz Reconnaissance Unit" (Hebrew: "Yehidat Egoz"; an elite, special-forces unit) were heading towards Mount Abu Rashed.
Thus, the counter force suffered 5 casualties, and "Israeli" helicopters arrived in the zone to evacuate them.
