WAAD completed rebuilding 70 buildings destroyed by "Israel" in Dahiyeh

The general manager of "WAAD" (the pledge) project for rebuilding the southern Dahiyeh, architect Hassan Jeshi, announced that the number of completed buildings handed over for residence to date is 45 buildings, 25 more buildings will be delivered in the coming days, while work on fortified concrete has been completed for more than 104 more buildings out of 185.

Jeshi spoke during an Iftar (fast breaking meal) hosted by WAAD, where he spoke on financial and administrative obstacles still facing the project. He asked the government to expedite compensation payments because foot-dragging in payments hampers work progress.

He explained that the project's cost is estimated at $400 million dollars, when the total compensation the government is to pay beneficiaries does not exceed $180 million dollars, a difference of $220 million; of those only $86 million have been received. What has been spent to date is $223 million, i.e. $137 million more than what's received from the Lebanese state.
