New testimonies by enemy soldiers from the July war: We were fighting ghosts
Despite the secrecy military censorship imposed on the presentation of the facts surrounding the July 2006 war, to evade harming the morale of the "Israelis" and their army, much amateur footage has so far been leaked revealing through live testimonies the level of terror and chaos the occupation army and settlers were under during the rockets down pour by the resistance. This is when the enemy entity's north was turned to what 'looks like hell', as described by some who documented the events, apart from testimonies given by soldiers shown for the first time describing the ferocity of the fighting and the bombardment they were exposed to.
In a segment of that footage one Zionist soldier was asked:
Did you see Hizbullah fighters? He replied: only through the lens.
He was then asked: describe them to us and what are their ages?
The Zionist soldier replied: "They are young men between 18 and 25 years-old, the fighting was tough in most cases."
He then was asked why the fighting was tough and he replied: "Because it is fighting against a force of ghosts."
When asked: "Do you fear for your fate and the fate of those around you? The "Israeli" soldier replied: "We were at the entrance of al-M'talleh (A town within the borders of occupied Palestine) when I saw a lot of wounded soldiers carried out on stretchers. Hizbullah fighters bombarded us relentlessly, they knew our exact location. Every time we moved to a different point, we were under attack by precise firing... had it not been for the tanks and if we fell under close range fire I would not know what would have happened ...we started feeling like mice and each moment was a siren to rush inside the vehicle."
Another "Israeli" soldier talked about what she saw, saying: "If we were to go to Lebanon - and I say this with full conviction - we will all come back in coffins after two hours. The Cornett missile would put an end to the whole subject; everyone knows this but no one wants to talk about it."
The testimonials given by "Israeli" soldiers reveal the dire psychological situation and complexities they witnessed during the war, when at the beginning they thought it was an easy process.
In this context, one of the officers who participated in the war said: "There is a feeling of frustration due to our failure and inability to stop and eliminate the Katyusha rockets. This was more complicated than we thought; we do not fight against an army, but against guerrilla warfare groups."
As for one of the soldiers, he described the situation as follows: "We did not move into attack mode, we only rescued the wounded, each cell is capable of destroying 2 tanks, and one soldier killed per tank is enough to keep the entire battalion busy with rescuing and providing cover, this is very frustrating."
The new testimonials disclose part of a reality "Israelis" suffered during 33 days of war, revealing the unremitting pressure and fear caused by the painful blows delivered by the resistance.
