Tyre: A Lebanese man was wounded on Thursday when a cluster bomblet fired by "Israeli" forces during last summer`s war exploded, police said. Khodr Missilmani, 35, was working in a field in the village of Shaaytiyeh, near the port city of Tyre, when he stepped on a bomblet, they said.
A day earlier, a Palestinian man was gravely wounded when he stepped on an "Israeli" cluster bomblet near Tyre, and on Tuesday another Palestinian refugee was killed in the same area as he tried to extract scrap metal from an unexploded "Israeli" bomb.
The munitions dropped by "Israel" during its devastating air war against Lebanon last summer included more than a million cluster bomblets, around 40 percent of which failed to detonate on impact, according to the United Nations.
Unexploded ordnance has killed at least 27 people and wounded more than 144 since the conflict ended on August 14, 2006, according to an AFP tally.
