The Era of Endless Historic Victories

‘‘As I used to say in the first days of the July war, I used to always Pledge you with victory by relying on God and by knowing you, these people, these resistance men, and this enemy.. Defeat era has gone, and it's the time of victories,'' Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in the victory rally September 22, 2006.
We would not be exaggerating if we say that the July 2006 victory "Truthful Pledge" was a historic victory in the Arab-"Israeli" conflict. The first victory was in 2000 when the Islamic resistance forced the "Israeli" occupation out of major part of the Lebanese territories in the South.
"July war overcame regional dimensions, it acquired strategic dimensions and changed many equations not only concerning Hizbullah in the south or the Arab-"Israeli" conflict, it rather went beyond the "Israeli" role since 1948," Chief of International Center for Information and Studies Rafiq Nasrallah told Al-Manar Website.
To gain back its fading role and to save face, "Israel" launched its 2006 war. Through that war, "Israel" wanted to change the equation in Lebanon in order to subsequently change the region. However defeat was always by its side.
"I would not be exaggerating if I say that this war and the victories achieved through these two years changed the situation in the Middle East. It also revealed that a popular resistance was able to defeat a huge power like "Israel". The victory of 2006 foiled a serious scheme aimed at fragmenting the region and drawing new maps in the framework of the US-"Israeli" New Middle East project. This scheme also seeks a demographic alteration in the region as well as in Lebanon. Many local powers, along with the US and "Israel" were a key constituent in this plot and they all left black prints we won't forget in the future," Nasrallah said.
On the political level, the analyst indicated that many facts have changed in Lebanon as a result of the July victory. "In my opinion, this war hasn't ended yet, military operations stopped but we are still living its repercussion and we are still facing a political war; in fact we are still inside the scheme and the proof is that we had to make an effort to mention the resistance in the policy statement of the new government."
In May 2008, the head of the then unconstitutional government Fouad Saniora and his ruling bloc decided in the longest cabinet session ever in Lebanese history, to label "illegal and unconstitutional" the Resistance communications network. Saniora and his team also decided to remove airport security Chief Brigadier General Wafiq Shqeir to rejoin the army command.
The US-backed decisions came one day ahead of a planned general strike to protest the deteriorating economic and social situation due to Saniora's policies. Pro-government gunmen opened fire on the protestors (who had not yet begin their march) what prompted pro-opposition armed men to retaliate. The protest was called off, but the clashes continued on the background of Saniora's black decisions.
In May 2008, Qatar formally announced a deal between Lebanon's opposition and the ruling bloc to end an 18-month political crisis that nearly saw the country plunge into the abyss of a civil war.
As a result, Army commander General Michel Suleiman was elected as president, a national unity government was formed, a policy statement that gives the resistance the right to gain back occupied lands and defend Lebanon was issued and a new electoral law is being discussed. In a few words, those were the same demands of the opposition that set up an 18-month long peaceful sit in downtown Beirut to achieve them.
The Doha agreement appeared to have frustrated some parties in Lebanon as well as Washington that spared no effort - since before 2006 - to try to curb Hizbullah and the opposition.
"At the time Hizbullah was achieving strategic victories, some sides came with their knives behind their backs to force Hizbullah to use its arms internally. Unfortunately for them, what happened in Beirut were mere skirmishes that were settled between political factions and not religious or sectarian forces," Rafiq Nasrallah told Al-Manar website.
The analyst added that it was planned for the Beirut incidents to take a sectarian tinge to "distort the image of Hizbullah and its arms." Nasrallah also said that everything that is happening in our region is aimed to ensure "Israel's" supremacy "because stability in some Arab countries is dependent on "Israeli" supremacy, so they offer money, logistics and intelligence to strike Hizbullah". The analyst sees the Lebanese as divided into two projects: the resistance project and the US-"Israeli" project. But Hizbullah proved it is much stronger and has its own vision for confronting the "Israeli" enemy," he added.
"Regardless of the campaign of distortions, Hizbullah continues to spearhead the Arab liberation movement against "Israel". It became the center for Arab resistance forces which still believe that the conflict revolves around achieving justice in the Palestinian right of return and the liberations of the land," Nasrallah said.
The last but not least victory of Hizbullah and the resistance happened in July 2008, two years after the July 2006 war. It was another pledge by Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's coming true. Operation Al-Redwan, after martyr Imad Moghnieh (Hajj Redwan) who was assassinated in Syria four months earlier by "Israeli" Mossad, closed the dossier of Lebanese detainees in "Israeli" jails as well as the so called "cemetery of numbers" which embraced the remains of some 200 Arab martyrs. Hizbullah exchanged two dead "Israeli" soldiers with five Lebanese detainees and the remains of the Arab martyrs. Samir Kintar, who has multiple life-time sentences, was among the released.
""Israel" is today under the pressure of accumulated downfalls. Sometimes we must observe our enemy and expect more conspiracies. We should be cautious from some of those around us because the conspiracy is not over yet," Nasrallah warned
In its early decades, "Israel's" strategic prowess was legendary, transforming a weak country into a regional power. The past decade has seen the opposite process, whereby that powerhouse is starting to collapse. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has said in a speech mourning martyr Moghnieh that the countdown to "Israel's" disappearance had started since their first defeat. "It is them who believe that the countdown to "Israel's" collapse starts with the moment they are defeated," Sayyed Nasrallah stressed; and Sayyed Nasrallah's pledges are always true.
