GAZA- Palestinian prisoner Amna Mona has started a hunger strike five days ago in the "Israeli" occupation jail of Ramle protesting her continued detention in solitary confinement.
Sima Anbas, in charge of Palestinian women prisoners in the prisoners` center for research and studies, said on Wednesday that Mona decided to go on an open-ended hunger strike since last Sunday.
Mona is asking for her transfer from Ramle to Talmund prison for political detainees, Anbas said.
She said that the prison administration held Mona in isolation near Jewish homicide criminals, making her the only one held in such conditions in violation of her rights in jail.
Anbas affirmed that Mona was experiencing very difficult incarceration due to worsening health condition and the administration`s maltreatment. Jewish women criminals held next to Mona`s cell and always call her bad names and continue to pester her, which badly affected her psychological condition, Anbas elaborated.
Mona has been held in occupation jails for six years and was chosen during that period as a representative of the Palestinian prisoners at ward 11 in the Sharon jail.
