CAIRO -The Arab League on Sunday condemned continuation of "Israeli" violations against Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the Zionist Regime`s prisons.
The league also expressed concern towards the increase in the number of prisoners and detainees, held in the "Israeli" prisons, to more than 11,000.
Mohammad Subeeh, assistant Arab League Secretary General and head of the Palestine and occupied territories department at the League, said that those detainees and prisoners faced all sorts of torture, lacked sufficient medical attention and were banned from receiving visitors.
The statement said that the League`s General Secretariat has prepared a comprehensive memorandum over the deteriorating conditions of Palestinians and Arab detainees in "Israeli" prisons and generalized it to all Arab countries.
An emergency memorandum was also sent to the International Red Crescent Organization calling on it to promptly intervene to put an end to such harsh practices.
It pointed out that the secretariat also formed a delegation to inspect conditions of the detainees and assure their families about their health and well-being.
