A day after US President Barack Obama signed into law extra sanction measures against the Central Bank of Iran; Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad showed little concern regarding the move as he announced that "his country is to carry out major banking reforms."

"The central bank is the backbone of the country in facing enemy pressures and it should be so powerful, self-confident and firm in thwarting all of the enemy's plots," he stressed during an annual assembly of the bank's senior officials.

According to the Presidential website, Ahmadinejad added "we should protect the people and the nation against the enemies' plots so people are not pressured."

He further called "the CBI and other banks to cooperate with the Ministry of
Economy and Financial Affairs in fully implementing the government's economic projects to serve masses and promote their welfare."

"The CBI is responsible for balancing the country's monetary and financial market and it should try to promote justice and national income in the society."

At another level, the Iranian President underlined his country's enthusiasm for developing relations with all the world countries, but not with US and the Zionist regime.

In a meeting with ministers, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives abroad he asserted that "Iran must expand its relations with all countries except the illegal Zionist regime and the US administration because of their arrogant nature."
