Charbel: Syrians Fighting in Tripoli
Local Editor
The Lebanese caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stated Tuesday that the situation in the Northern capital, Tripoli, is better than the last two days.
He further hailed the efforts of the Lebanese Army, which taught the militants a lesson that we hope "they won't forget."
In an interview with a Lebanese radio station, Charbel viewed that the difficulty in controlling the security situation on the ground in Tripoli is related to the diffused leadership structure of the armed groups, particularly in Bab al-Tebbaneh.
In parallel, the minister revealed that there are Syrians among Tripoli's causalities.
"They were involved in the latest round of violence in the North," he stated.
Charbel added that it was a direct consequence of the shortcomings of the
Lebanese state's approach to the Syrian refugee issue, especially when it comes to not setting up camps to put "law breakers under control."
