Self-Sacrifice Martyr: Bilal Akhras

Who is he?

The ninth of his siblings, Bilal was born on the 12th of December 1973. He was two years old when he became an orphan, his father had died. And so his mother became very attached to him, she poured her love and care on him and took good care of Bilal.

Bilal finished his academic education successfully all the way through, until he graduated and studied electric engineering in the Southern region of Nabatiyeh.
Martyr Bilal started praying and got committed to religious practices at an early age. He was very careful to perform his prayers on time, without any delay. He would also perform his night prayers, and do good deeds. He would always attend lamenting gatherings for Imam Hussein (pbuh) and prayed that he would become a martyr for the sake of land and the people.

In Battlefield

Martyr Bilal took part in numerous resistance operations, but he was in the shadow, no one ever noticed that. He fought courageously; he defended his friends in battlefield. Hid might and bravery were the reason why Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah categorized him as a self-sacrifice martyr, to what he holds of valor and sacrifice.

Bilal had also taken part in the Grapes of Wrath operation. He also was in the surveillance mission of the Dabshe- Ali Taher. During this mission, as soon as the mujahideen arrived to the location, they fell in an ambush a Zionist patrol had prepared for them.
Right away he asked his friends to retreat as he took on the mission of defending them until they had left the location saying "I will crush them with my feet."

On that day, the 10th of June 1996, there were 12 "Israeli" soldiers, and in a solo-battle against the dozen soldiers; Bilal hit his targets as they all fell on ground breathless. Yet, one of the soldiers laying on the ground was still alive, as Martyr Bilal advanced among them, he shot martyr Bilal.

The coward enemy had left Bilal's body for 12 days before it had allowed the Red Cross to return it back to his parents. Sayyed Nasrallah performed the prayers on his chaste body before burial on the 24th of June 1996.

"Think not of those who are slain in God's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord"

All work as one in their labor to meet God the Exalted
.
