Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned against paving the way for the enemy to make attempts to dominate and exploit other nations, Iranian Republic News Agency reported.

In a joint press conference with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on Sunday, President Ahmadinejad stated, "No one should allow sworn enemies to gain a footing in the region and get the opportunity to plot against and dominate nations".

Moreover, Ahmadinejad affirmed his country's good will in extending its global relations; however he further insisted that Iran has the right to defend its national interests.
"We are friends with all nations but we need to defend our independence and interest", he clarified.

The Iranian President's two-day visit to Tajikistan came upon President Rahmon's former invitation, where both hailed the bilateral ties between Tehran and Dushanbe, regarding them as "special and exceptional".

The talks held between both Presidents aimed at expanding bilateral economic, cultural, educational, and political ties.

Furthermore, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Tajik Counterpart are expected to inaugurate the Sang Toodeh 2 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, which are supervised by Iranian experts in southeast Tajikistan.
