Sayyed Nasrallah: Hizbullah to Overcome STL Conspiracy, to Emerge Stronger than Before
Nour Rida
Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that Hizbullah would overcome the conspiracy of the international tribunal and emerge stronger than before. His eminence assured that one hundred indictments against Hizbullah would not change anything in the balance in the region.
STL CONSPIRACY CANNOTSHAKE RESISTANCE
During the second ceremony of the Martyr's Association for the graduation of martys' sons and daughters who have reached self-reliance on Tuesday, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the dreams of some politicians that the international tribunal would get rid of the Resistance would not become true, wondering "How could a Resistance that was not hit by the strongest air force in the region to be shaken by (STL Prosecutor Daniel) Bellemare and company?"
The Resistance leader reminded that in this very same ceremony last year, the resistance had started its confrontation to the new conspiracy woven against it. "A resistance that was not shaken by the most powerful air force in the region will not be shaken by (STL Prosecutor Daniel) Bellemare, (STL Pre-Trial Judge Daniel) Fransen or (STL President Antonio) Cassese," Sayyed Nasrallah declared.
His Eminence also assured that the weak hopes (of the other camp) that the STL could put an end to the Resistance would fail just like these hopes failed in 2006. He added that Hizbullah has overcome the July war which aimed at crushing the Resistance, and emerged with more strength and dignity than before. His Eminence said that the same scenario will happen again as Hizbullah will overcome the STL conspiracy. Sayyed Nasrallah noted that some politicians were seeking a compromise stating that they remain in power and that resistance fighters be unjustly accused of involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri's case ( in reference to former PM Saad Hariri without naming him).
HIZBULLAH FIRST TO PRESENT DEFENSE STRATEGY
On the level of the new government, Sayyed Nasrallah praised the Lebanese President as well as the new Prime Minister for their efforts. Starting with President Michel Suleiman, Sayyed Nasrallah declared his support for the dialogue initiative he had launched (during the dinner banquet he held at his residence place in Amshit on Saturday).
His Eminence denied claims that Hizbullah was not serious in dealing with the dialogue, recalling all political factions that the Resistance party was the first to present its defensive strategy. Sayyed Nasrallah assured that regardless of the nature of the different topics to be discussed, Hizbullah supports any national dialogue among the Lebanese, reiterating that Hizbullah totally supports the principle of dialogue.
Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say that Hizbullah was the first to offer a defensive strategy. "We even adopted our defensive strategy a few days after declaring it during the July 2006 war, in which we achieved victory," his eminence said.
Hizbullah Secretary General praised the visit of Prime Minister Najib Mikati to South Lebanon following the vote session and the first ministerial session, who was accompanied by the Lebanese Defense Minister and the head of the Lebanese Army. He pointed out that in this context "we welcome this visit which has national implications and is a precedent in Lebanon's history especially that the South was never among the concerns of the state, but was at the very bottom of the list of concerns." His Eminence reassured that Mikati's visit to the South was a good omen, and implies that the state has resumed taking responsibilities seriously.
PRISONERS FILE SHOULD BE RESOLVED
On the domestic level, Hizbullah leader called on the government and the ministers to give priority to the files that do not constitute a financial burden. "Such files are sensitive and do not require a budget nor do these files need foreign support. These files only need follow up and are capable of decreasing people's woes and pain, one of which is the file of prisoners remaining in Lebanese jails, whether the Islamists or others. There are tremendous numbers (of prisoners) in Lebanese jails who remain imprisoned without trials, and the government has seriously begun working on this file," Sayyed Nasrallah explained.
JULY MARTYRS BROUGHT ABOUT HISTORIC CHANGE
The martyrs had their share in this speech, as the ceremony was held to honor them and their children who follow their lead. Sayyed Nasrallah on this note, assured that the July war martyrs have brought about a historic change in the regional conflict when it comes to confronting the US-"Israeli" scheme. He further expressed how proud he is of the martyrs and their families.
SHEIKH AL-AZHAR STANCE RESPONSIBLE
Moreover, Sayyed Nasrallah praised the latest stance of Sheikh al-Azhar Ahmad al-Tayyeb, saying "we should stand with respect before al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyeb, particularly when it comes to the shiite-sunnite relations and bringing Mulims together. Sayyed Nasrallah noted that Sheikh al-Tayyeb did not adopt worn slogans and rhetoric, but actually tackled the core issue, noting that there are those who try to exploit differences to sow strife.
