Leader of the Islamic Revolution Pardons More Than 600 Prisoners

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Monday pardoned and commuted sentences of 601 prisoners following a request for amnesty by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani.
According to sources, the prisoners had been convicted by the civil, military and revolutionary tribunals. The move came on the occasion of the Islamic Republic Day.
April 1 marks the 32nd anniversary of a referendum in which Iranians voted for the establishment of the Islamic Republic following the collapse of Iran's monarchy in 1979.
