“Israel’s” Investigation Panel: A Fox in Charge of the Hencoop

In a few days, Gaza flotilla probe panel holds its first meeting. The Turkel committee, a panel set up to investigate the "Israeli" raid on the Gaza-bound flotilla on the 31st of May, is due to convene on Wednesday.

Very remarkable it is that the very same person who ordered the attack on the ship, set up the inquiry himself; and more interesting it is that he who assured the investigation will be fair and impartial, defends the "Israeli" army furiously.

It is Benjamin Netanyahu, the "Israeli" Prime Minister who announced the panel's outcome before it even has started, as he expressed himself "I'm convinced that finding the facts by the committee will prove that the objective behind the operation of the state of "Israel" and its army defensive action was acceptable and conformed to international standards."

Indeed, stopping the Turkish "Mavi Marmara" in international waters and using deadly force on the deck of the "fleet of freedom" ship killing at least 9 activists and injuring more than 50 is an action conformed to international standards!

The world demands the truth about what had happened on that bloody Monday, tens, even hundreds of organizations worldwide have joined their voice to the International Red Cross Committee, Amnesty International, and other international organizations that demand setting up an impartial investigation panel, demand revealing the truth, defend human rights, demand the immediate lift of the siege off the Gaza Strip...But as the "Israeli" panel came to light, not any truth will come out, but that maimed truth of Netanyahu and his companions.

According to the "Israeli" government, it formed a 3-man "Israeli" panel that will be assisted by two foreign observers whose task will be limited and would not have right to vote on the committee's work and results.

The three "Israeli" men to decide what went on with the "Israeli" soldiers and the "Mavi Marmara" are Yaakov Turkel, a retired "Israeli" supreme court judge, head of the committee, Shaftai Rouzain, an international law expert, "Israel" Prize laureate, Amos Huraiv, retired Major-General, former member of the "Israeli" Haganah mob (or who Haaretz simply calls "military expert and former president of the Technion").

As for the "Non-Voting" observers, they are David Trimble, a Northern Irish Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Ken Watkin, a former military judge advocate general from Canada.
Inspecting the origin and history of these members of the inquiry, crystal clear it is that impartiality has no room in this panel.

For instance, Trimble is a leader of the newly formed pro-"Israel" organization "Friends of Israel" and is close to Netanyahu associate Dore Gold. As for Watkins, he is known for stonewalling a 2009 House of Commons investigation into Afghan prisoner abuse. These are all facts that "Israel" as usual blacks out and covers up.

Not only is the panel notorious and cannot be trusted, but there are some key facts about the committee that assure it's a merry-go-round.

Netanyahu said the commission would not be allowed to interview any soldiers except "Israel's" military commander and no soldiers will appear before the committee. "Israeli" PM Netanyahu, War Minister Ehud Barak, and chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi are all expected to testify before the Committee. The committee cannot question "political mechanism that triggered the attack on the Marmara", and the sole "evidence" under consideration is the summary report by the "experts" the chief of staff appointed.

A committee that will apparently not ask "Israeli" soldiers what happened, and is very unlikely to ask their victims, especially as they have all been prejudged as fanatical "terrorists", it does indeed constitute a merry-go-round, endless and pointless...

As for "Israel's" first ally and backer, in applauding the action, the White House said, that "Israel" has a "military justice system that meets international standards" claiming it can meet the standard of a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation.

This does in fact remind us of the prior "transparent investigations" conducted by the Zionist entity, of which I recall a few such as Sabra, Shatila, Qana (whether the first of 1996 or the second of 2006) or the 1,400 who died in the Gaza invasion.

Qana for instance, the "Israeli" bloody massacre that took place on the 18th of April 1996 killing more than 100 innocent civilians who fled to the Fijian Forces center that was operating within the United Nations Interim Forces in Southern Lebanon..

"Israel's" first justification to the massacre was the usual ""Hizbullah" was shelling rockets and used civilians as human shields" pretext. In a few hours, the answer changed into the compound was hit "due to incorrect targeting based on erroneous data."

Army Deputy Chief of Staff at the time, Matan Vilnai, stated later that the shells hit the base because "Israeli" gunners used outdated maps of the area, and that the gunners miscalculated the firing range of the shells.

As the UN and Amnesty International conducted on-site investigations of the incident in collaboration with military experts concluding that the "Israeli" army intentionally attacked the UN compound killing dozens of which most are women and children, the "expected Israeli" reaction came out; rejecting the findings of the UN and AI reports concerning the incident at Qana.
Consequently, it is a rerun of inquiries based on falsehood and deception that we witness, of which the latest is the flotilla crime.

"Israel" not only taunts international law and human rights, but also enjoys practicing inhuman aggressions in presence of a politicized UN Security Council that is always an arena for US VETO RIGHTS against any international condemnation or resolution against "Israel".

One of these resolutions I remember very well is United Nations Security Council Resolution 425 that we -as kids- always heard our parents talk about, which in fact never came into effect except by the might and sacrifices of the Resistance in Lebanon and more than 20 years after the resolution was issued. It took the "Israeli" entity more than 20 years to bring one single resolution concerning one single country and nation into effect!

United Nations Security Council Resolution 425, adopted on March 19, 1978, five days after the "Israeli" invasion of Lebanon, called on "Israel" to withdraw immediately its forces from Lebanon and established the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL). It was adopted by 12 votes to none; Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union abstained, and China did not participate.
In May 2000, more than 22 years after resolution 425 was passed, "Israel" withdrew its troops from southern Lebanon only by the efforts of the resistance which "Israel" and the US hopelessly crave to put off in Lebanon and the region.

"Israel" DOES use overwhelming force, DOES detain children, DOES illegally annex land and resources, DOES Demolish Homes, DOES violate airspace and lands, DOES kill innocent lives on daily basis, even on hour basis, "Israel" DOES violate International laws and Human Rights, it is the "boy who cried wolf" that works by an always policy of "put the fox in charge of the hencoop"...
