The Bahraini regime summoned several organizers of the Ashura memorial ceremonies to interrogate them on the background of praying for religious scholar Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.
In this regard, the Lualua TV reported that organizers of memorials in the Bahraini region of Diraz were summoned for second consecutive day, interrogated for several hours and threatened to be arrested in case they prayed for or raised the pictures of Sheikh Qassim when reciting the memorials of Imam Hussein or in the marches that follow.
Meanwhile, Bahraini authorities still hold Sheikh Qassim under house arrest since the bloody May 23rd, 2017 which witnessed a brutal massacre against those who staged a sit-in in support of Sheikh Qassim, in which 5 Bahraini youths were martyred and hundreds others were injured and arrested.
The security forces have been blockading the Diraz area since June 20th, 2016 when the Bahraini regime revoked the citizenship of Sheikh Qassim and went on in a trial against him.
This year has witnessed a significant increase in the official attacks against Ashura rituals in different Bahraini areas.
