On the 31st Anniversary of concealing Imam Moussa Sadr, Hizbullah issued the following statement:
On this day, "August the 31st" of each year, the anniversary of this great national tragedy manifesting in the abduction and continued concealment of the homeland and resistance Imam, His Eminence Imam Moussa Sadr along with his two companions Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub and Mr. Abbas Badreddine, may God hasten their return.

All at once, the deep pain, anger and sorrow are felt and renewed from the great injustice done to the Imam and his two companions on the one hand and to their homeland, people, families and their just causes on the other.

Today's occasion invites us to remember this leader and founder of an imam, to recall his tremendous sacrifices and the efforts he spent to maintain Lebanon's unity, identity, the wellbeing of its people and its co-existence to extinguish internal strife among the Lebanese, and between them and the Palestinians and the Syrians. To also defend Lebanon, its south in particular, against continued Zionist aggressions and for al-Quds (Jeusalem), Palestine and the people of Palestine.

We are also invited to recall his leadership role at the ummah level as a whole and at the level of the Arab and Islamic worlds, to also introduce and present the bright and magnificent likeness of this imam to all the new generations born after Imam Sadr's kidnapping and concealment.

This day, is also an occasion to remind the world of the full and direct responsibility the Libyan regime bears for this issue, and the duty of the Arab League, the Islamic Conference Organization and all the active forces of this nation to work on forcing the Libyan regime to release Imam Sadr and his two companions, and to return them safely to their homeland, people and families and to their jihad arenas.

We in Hizbullah alongside our brothers in the Amal movement, and all the noble people of this nation, reaffirm our commitment to work on keeping this issue alive to present it as a major national, Islamic and jihad issue, and to struggle diligently to bring this issue to a desired and pleasant outcome.

We emphasize that even if the kidnappers seize the imam, his principles, path, course, ideas, hopes and goals have continued strongly to become an entire people, achieving his steps one by one, on behalf of Moussa Sadr and under his fluttering banner.
