Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is leading the polls in Iran's presidential election with almost 24 million of votes, Fars news agency reports.

The incumbent president won 23.98 million of votes, which account for more than 64 percent of votes, the news agency said, putting the voter turnout at 85 percent.

Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who has sharply complained of voting irregularities, comes second with 12.66 million votes, followed by Mohsen Rezaei (633,883 votes) and Mehdi Karroubi (321729 votes), Fars said, adding that more than 405,000 of the votes were annulled.

Over 46 million people were eligible to vote.

No official result of the election has been announced yet, but Ahmadinejad's supporters have already started celebrating his victory.

In a Saturday statement, Mousavi dismissed the results as 'astounding' and 'a trick by election officials'.
