Qassem: Washington is confused and has little hope in Lebanon΄s parliamentary elections

On December 18, the Lebanese News Agency reported that Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said:
The achievements of the Resistance have become deep-rooted like a mountain and no one will be able to shake its existence because it is consecrated in minds and hearts and the future of the nation thanks to the blessing of its achievements, namely the divine victory it accomplished in July 2006...
The accomplishments of the Resistance astounded the enemies who confronted it from everywhere, using the media, political positions, and international, regional and local aggression. But eventually, the voice of righteousness and the flags of guidance will rise.
The achievements of the Resistance in Lebanon are three-dimensional: cultural, political and military dimensions. The cultural achievement is represented by the nation's conviction that the resistance option is the only solution, not surrender, and that honor is the way out, instead of humiliation. Moreover, a courageous stance is needed, instead of to flee and hide.
Having confidence in ourselves, the people, and the Resistance is better than frustration that affects the reckless or passive people who listen to the East or the West. At the political level, the Resistance established an important headline: not to submit to international terrorism, no matter how potent this terrorism is.
Moreover, the Resistance taught us how to insist on liberating our land and how to work for complete independence and sovereignty, and how to gain our rights with our hands because right is never granted or given as a gift by the tyrants, infidels, aggressors and occupiers.
At the military level, what shall we say? How can we describe young men who artistically created heroic confrontations? No one is able to describe them... "Israel" threatens us every now and then saying it is preparing bad times for us. We tell them: you are doing your preparations and we are doing ours. You have seen an example and model in July, and if you ever try again, there will be a different result by all standards. Stop showing off while you are defeated...
Now, after the United States tried the military option and failed to extinguish the flame of the Resistance, it practiced political pressures for three years in Lebanon, but failed. The United States also tried to achieve something in the region, in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria, but its attempts were to no avail. Now the US is counting on its last hope; the parliamentary elections in Lebanon. Imagine that the US has reached a point where it is waiting for the results of the elections in Lebanon.
When you ask the US officials how will you deal with Lebanon? They say that they will not provide the Lebanese Army with weapons until the results of the elections become clear. So America is confused and is not sure about the election results, though its circles speculate about the failure of the March 14 group...
Today, we insist that the interest of Lebanon should be considered in the elections. Let us be frank, the coming parliamentary election is not about majority and minority seats. It is about political choices over which both rivals disagree...
We stress on the unity of Lebanon and repudiate federalism and division under any headline or slogan or excuses, because federalism and division are projects plotted by "Israel" and do not suit Lebanon, the homeland.
Besides, we reject any direct or indirect talks between Lebanon and "Israel". We know that the European and American efforts at this stage are focusing on applying pressures on Lebanon to hold peace talks with "Israel". They want normal relations between "Israel" and Lebanon, without giving Lebanon its rights and liberating its lands. We reject these European and American pressures and direct or indirect talks with "Israel" because we have nothing to talk about with this "Israeli" enemy.
"Israel" should leave this occupied land and stop violating our airspace. We have nothing to offer or exchange, and thus there is no need for these negotiations. If the American president wants to arrive to Lebanon in order to pressure the presidency and the government to hold negotiations with "Israel", we ask him not to bother himself.
Negotiations are out of the question....
We welcome the guests who want to help Lebanon and provide it with support. But we reject these American trends that want to secure "Israel's" interest. We also stress the need to reinforce the Lebanese-Syrian relations as stipulated by the Taif Agreement. These relations should be outstanding, and should secure the interests of both countries in the face of various challenges. We call for giving an open eye for the people's living, social, and economic matters. We also call for facing corruption and monopoly...
Finally, I greet Muntazar al-Zaidi, who hurled his shoe at Bush's forehead. This throw will be recorded in history for the most unsuccessful American president. This reveals that we can make our honor and glory with the simplest means possible, but we must have strong willpower.
Despite the Resistance's few means and men, it managed to achieve the biggest victory against "Israel". This proves that we have the capacities, but we need the willpower.
