Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami warned on Monday that crimes, assassinations and foolish terrorist acts will not remain unanswered.

"We chase the criminals to the end," General Hatami said at a funeral procession held on Monday morning for martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, head of the Research and Innovation Organization of Iran's Ministry of Defense, who was assassinated in a town nearby Tehran on Friday.

Martyr Fakhrizadeh was assassinated on November 27 when a car bomb exploded near his vehicle and a number of terrorists opened fire on him afterwards, according to Hatami's recent remarks.

The criminals should know that they will be punished, Hatami said at the funeral ceremony on Monday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hatami hailed the martyr, noting that he was a solid person who fulfilled his pledges and achieved a high-level martyrdom.

“Martyr Fakhrizadeh is a symbol whose example is followed; he has introduced Iran to the entire world. Our people emphasized in honoring him that they are determined to solidly follow the path of endurance.”

The Iranian defense minister then underscored that “With its steadfastness, Iran has obliged the enemy to put its choice off the table. The enemy won't be able to commit any crime without receiving a response from the Iranian people.”

"First to investigate this crime and firmly prosecute its perpetrators and its commanders, second to continue the martyr’s scientific and technological efforts in all the sectors where he was active," Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali commented on the incident.
