The “Israeli” entity’s so-called President Reuven Rivlin apologized to “Israeli” settlers for the government's failure to stop the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday night, ahead of a general lockdown scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The controversial lockdown has drawn criticism from politicians, even sparking protests against the entity's closure during the Jewish holidays.

“… I’m addressing you this evening on the eve of a second lockdown in the ‘State of “Israel”’," Rivlin began in a televised speech.

He asked for “Israelis'” attention, despite saying that the "leadership didn’t do enough to be worthy of your attention. You trusted us and we let you down."

Rivlin said he understood feelings "of bewilderment, of perplexity, of fear to which many are being held prisoner. I understand, and ask first of all to apologize."

"On a personal level, I apologize to you for my behavior here at the President’s Residence during the lockdown over Passover," he said. Rivlin had come under fire for hosting his daughter during a Jewish holiday the previous lockdown in spring.

"My isolation isn't more damaging than isolation for many of you who are following the guidelines, ardently and to the letter."

“When the coronavirus burst into our lives, we knew that the struggle would be hard, but we hoped that victory would be swift," Rivlin continued, noting the "heavy price" endured over "a long period."

“The trust of this 'nation' is priceless," he said. "We must do everything to bring back ‘Israeli’ ‘citizens’’ personal, medical and economic security."

"This is a second chance and we must be victorious, for there will be no third opportunity," he warned.

Rivlin called for cohesion among “Israelis”, "We shall not win through destructive accusations — only together. We were meant to be together, to share in the good years, and in the bad years..."
