“Iranian Borders Red Line”, IRGC Commander Comments after Downing US spy Drone

Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards warned on Thursday of any aggression against Tehran, stressing that the downing of a US drone carried a “clear message” to Iran’s arch enemy, the United States.

“The downing of the American drone was a clear message to America ... our borders are Iran’s red line and we will react strongly against any aggression ... Iran is not seeking war with any country, but we are fully prepared to defend Iran,” said the Guards’ commander-in-chief, Brigadier General Hossein Salami.

“Iran's enemies have been defeated in all confrontations and are desperate today,” Salami said, adding that “We can’t trust America with all its history of hostility.”

Emphasizing that the enemy will never be able to cross into the Iranian territory, Salami stressed that “We're ready for any war and any aircraft violating Iran's airspace will not return to its bases.”

“Iran’s defenders are ready to respond firmly and he who offends our borders will be eliminated.”

The top military commander further stated that “Downing a US spy drone forms a model to Iran’s treatment of enemies,” noting that “We will pursue our enemies wherever they hide.”

“Our leaders taught us that we will triumph once we stand firm,” Salami said, stressing that the Iranian people are known worldwide for their strength, steadfastness, development and security and that they reject negotiations with the US.

“We stood in face of the Zionist entity and we won.”

Highlighting the role of resistance in the region, Salami said that the Islamic revolution has become the base for the Iraqi people.

In the same context, he added that the enemies face the resistance of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Palestinian resistance through its rockets.

“The enemies wanted to turn Yemen to a bridge for their targets but they failed due to the Yemeni people’s resistance.”

Warning “friends in neighboring countries that their lands turn to a field for sedition” Salami said that criminal America sought in every period to cut lands and spread divisions among Muslims.

The Guard announced earlier in the day that it shot down the American drone over Iranian airspace, while US officials confirmed the incident in statement to the Associated Press.
