The Wahhabi Daesh [Arabic acronym for "ISIS" / "ISIL"] terrorist group began to recede a lot on Syria territory. Today, its presence has become limited to some rural areas of Deir ez-Zor, and a few border areas with Iraq, most notably Abu Kamal - Daesh's last bastion in Syria - which is the Syrian Army's current target, indicating the group's near extinction as the army and its allies advance.

Syrian Gov’t Source: Daesh Annihilation Is Just a Matter of Time

A few days ago, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Daesh terrorist organization only occupies five percent of the total Syrian territory. From the whole Syrian territory, Daesh only controls the city of Abu Kamal and some desert areas of the eastern and southern Deir ez-Zor countryside, where the Syrian army and its allies continue their military operations.

In an interview with al-Ahed News website, a Syrian government source said, "The elimination of the terrorist organization has become a matter of time. In few a months' time, Daesh terrorists will be uprooted wherever they were."

"They are in a state of severe decline because of the defeats they have suffered on various fronts, starting from Palmyra to the entire countryside of eastern Homs and from Deir ez-Zor and its countryside to the border areas with Iraq, to where the army is advancing," the source continued.

Furthermore, the source explained that "the great harmony and high coordination between the Syrian army and its allies in the axis of Resistance has been fruitful and- in a record time - produced strategic achievements and great victories on terrorism and its supporters," adding, "Nonetheless, they have foiled all plans aimed at the axis of Resistance to overcome the most vicious Takfiri terrorist organization mankind has ever known."

The Syrian government source stressed that "without the sacrifices of the martyrs of the resistance axis, these great victories would not have been achieved. Their comrades in arms today are continuing the eradication and fight against all terrorist organizations regardless of the support provided to these groups."
