Hizbullah representative to southern Lebanon Sheikh Nabil Qaouk defended the resistance as "more than a need for a national defense strategy."
"If we are to complete the liberation of the remaining [occupied] lands in the Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shouba and the remaining prisoners, there is no way by the resistance strategy in defense and liberation," he added. "The resistance's arms free Lebanon," Qaouk said. "Hizbullah upholds its arms as a national responsibility, and will not relinquish them."
After meeting with a delegation representing the Italian Communist Party, Sheikh Qaouk said the international community constituted neither a guarantee of the Palestinian right to return nor a guarantee against Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
"We are ready for dialogue and cooperation on the mechanisms between the resistance and the different state agencies," he added.
