The evacuation of militants and their families from eastern Aleppo was suspended Friday as militants opened fire on a convoy at one of the crossing points.

A Syrian official overseeing the evacuation told Reuters it had been obstructed due to "obstructions."

A witness had heard at least four blasts at a location where buses had been departing, Reuters reported.

According to a state-run Syrian TV station, militants had breached an agreement with the government by trying to take prisoners with them during the evacuation.

Al-Manar confirmed reports that the militants had breached their agreement with the Syrian government. It went on to say that the militants had fired at al-Ramouseh corridor West of Aleppo.

The humanitarian and civilian evacuation from Foua and Kefraya had been violated, al-Manar reported adding that the militants had bombed the Sqaylibya checkpoint and evacuated prisoners with them.

According to a Press TV correspondent, the militants on Friday prevented the residents from leaving the two villages despite an agreement apparently reached the day before.

Earlier in the day, Russia's Defense Ministry said more than 6,400 people, including over 3,000 militants, have been transferred out of Aleppo as part of a ceasefire deal brokered by Russia and Turkey.
