DAILY SCOPE: Syrian Battlefields on Fire, Turkey Slows Down Intervention, Ratifies Deal with ’Israel’

In the edition of September 1st, 2016, as-Safir Newspaper discussed the following issues:

Erdogan Ratifies Reconciliation Agreement with "Israel"

The "Israeli"-Turkish reconciliation agreement entered into effect on Wednesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ratifying the amendments issued by his parliament in this regard.

Erdogan broke the ice with "Israel", technically, as he shook hands Wednesday with the top "Israeli" diplomat in Turkey, Shani Cooper.

After announcing the agreement, "Israeli" PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced that it is important, although not exempted of criticism: "The agreement is important for "Israel", it is important for it today, tomorrow and for the coming generations. It is not a honeymoon, but the positive interests grew bigger."

Turkish Invasion Slows Down, Hamah Endangered

As the Syrian army and allies were minding the gap caused by the latest Turkish invasion of Aleppo recently, the "Jund al-Aqsa" organization was resuming progress on the Hamah front, taking control of nearby towns.

Meanwhile, clashes reached Mahrada. Such military developments doesn't only threaten Hamah, but also affects land communication lines between army units in different Syrian provinces.

"Wings of Lebanon" in Ben Gurion Airport!

Boeing 737, for Tailwind Airlines landed in "Israel" coming from Turkish Antalya, yet the surprise was that the aircraft is named "Wings of Lebanon".

"Wings of Lebanon" confirmed yet condemned the incident, noting that Turkish Tailwind Airlines held the full responsibility for the landing of an aircraft with the Lebanese company's logo in "Israeli" Ben Gurion airport.

The company further explained that Tailwind had earlier leased a plane to it, and that the aircraft, with the Lebanese company's livery painted on its side, had been dispatched to Antalya in Turkey for maintenance.

For its part, al-Akhbar newspaper shed light on the developments in Syria, discussing both the field and political developments:

Battle of Hamah: Saudi Opens Road to Syria!

"Jund al-Aqsa" is one of the most mysterious militant groups in Syria. It is loyal to al-Qaeda, besides being on good terms with Daesh. It is a perfectly Takfiri organization, yet it engages in alliances, if necessary, with "Free Army"-affiliated groups. It has not controlled any resources-rich areas, yet it enjoys a notable "financial satisfaction".

It passed in several stages before it re-emerged from the gate of Hamah. It receives generous funding from the "prominent Salafist Kuwaitis".

Currently, thanks to the funding authority, "Jund al-Aqsa" intersects with indirect Saudi instructions.

Moscow: Approaching "Important" Agreement on Aleppo with Washington

As the Syrian army seeks progress on south Aleppo axes, Russian and American parties are resuming their technical consultations aiming at finding a mechanism to control the situation on the city's fronts.

The city of al-Bab in northeast Aleppo, will be a central controversial point between the Turks and the Kurds.

Meanwhile, clashes in Ar-Ramoussa and other regions south Aleppo continued. In parallel, Russian Foreign Minister told Tasnim news Agency that Russia and the United States are approaching a "very important" agreement on the issue of Aleppo.

He further added that "both countries' officials will be meeting in the coming hours to find a final solution regarding Aleppo."

On the local issue, an-Nahar marked House Speaker Nabih Berri's statement on Amal Movement festival, addressing the presidential void and the waste problem:

Berri Links Presidential Elections with "What Comes Next", "Oil Cartel" Hinders Temporary Waste Solution

Marking the disappearance of Imam Sayyed Musa Sadr, Lebanese Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri stressed that the agreement on electing a president "happens in case of agreeing on the post-presidency issue," since there are more than the presidency for the Lebanese people to care for.

He further warned of playing on the factor of time in betting on foreign sides.

On the garbage crisis, Berri noted that the oil file is a negative factor as it hinders the implementation of the waste plan.
