A terrorist explosion rocked Roweis area of the southern Suburb of Beirut, resulting in the martyrdom of 17 citizens, the injury of 270 others in addition to major damage in buildings and cars.

"The firefighters extinguished the blaze caused by the explosion and rescued the wounded who were detained in their houses."
The Lebanese army confirmed the explosion was a car bomb, which caused severe damage. Plumes of smoke filled the sky, while hundreds of civilians from the neighborhood gathered to help fire fighters put out the flames. Glass of nearby buildings was shattered.

Maya, a teenage girl who was very close to the scene said the explosion was huge. "It was a huge blast, it destroyed a lot of property and the fire was flaming, but we are ready for this! They think this terrorism will frighten us, but they have to know that we are unyielding when it comes to our beliefs."
Sahar, a hairdresser whose salon was totally destroyed was at present at the time of the explosion as well.

She wondered why civilians would be a target to merciless terrorist acts. "My salon was totally destroyed, but God will help us rebuild what we lost."
Medical sources told al-Ahed news that among the martyrs, there were 3 women and a baby.

A group calling itself the "Brigade of Aisha, the Mother of the Faithful" claimed responsibility for the attack.

on Tuesday the 9th of July, 53 Lebanese citizens were injured in a car bomb, in a parking lot in the Southern Beirut Suburb, Dahiyeh. The car bomb went off in the parking lot near the Islamic Cooperation Center in the Bir al-Abed area of Dahiyeh.
The explosive, weighing some 35 kilograms, caused severe material damage in an around the parking lot, where plumes of thick smoke billowed into the sky.
