Lavrov: Iran Must be Present in Geneva 2, Hizbullah Defends Muslim Sanctities in Syria

Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov stressed Moscow's call for including Tehran in the upcoming Geneva 2 meeting on the Syria crisis.
In an interview with al-Mayadeen Channel on Monday, Lavrov stated that Russia insists on Iran's participation as a key part of the Geneva communiqué to solve the Syrian crisis.
"While Moscow calls for participation of more members including Syria's neighboring countries - namely Iran and Saudi Arabia - in the second round of talks, Washington tries to decrease the number of these countries and replace them with those supporting the militant groups in Syria," Lavrov added.
Moreover, Lavrov denounced attempts by the Arab League's member states in handing over Syria's seat to the so-called opposition, adding that "such a decision is a big obstacle for achieving peace in Syria".
Likewise, Lavrov dismissed claims that Hizbullah is fighting in Syria, where he stressed that it only defends Muslim sanctities there.
