A senior Iranian military commander confirmed Saturday that "popular resistance movement similar to the Lebanese resistance movement, Hizbullah, is taking shape in Syria against the terrorists and extremist groups."
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said that the current triumph over extremist groups in Syria was the outcome of the leadership of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the support of the Syrian nation.
He said President al-Assad is the sole leader in Syria who is capable of safeguarding territorial integrity and independence of the country.
He further lauded al-Assad's strategies against terrorist groups, and stated, "Thanks to his strategic will, a Hizbullah-like popular resistance has been formed throughout Syria, which is growing more solid and unified now."
The Iranian commander said people in those areas taken back from Takfiri and Wahhabi terrorist groups have joined this popular mobilization.
Moreover, Firouzabadi confirmed that the war in Syria has come to an end, saying, "Therefore, the enemies had better not interfere in Syria's affairs anymore."
