Lebanese Army Exposes Dangerous Terrorist Network

Lebanese al-Jamhouriya daily mentioned in a report that the Lebanese Army had apprehended a dangerous terrorist network during the holidays, whose mission was to execute terrorist acts to hit Lebanon's security and stability. The cell is comprised of four elements having Lebanese and Syrian nationalities, being investigated by the Army's intelligence agency.
The newspaper cited security sources related to the investigations as saying, "This cell is required to execute terrorist operations based on strategic tactics targeting the Lebanese Army and its bases, in coordination with al-Nusra Front terrorists in Ain al-Helweh camp."
Moreover, investigations revealed that this network intends on repeating the assassination spree Lebanon witnessed in the past few years. The objective behind this is to create a fuss among Christians and Muslims.
Furthermore, security sources revealed, "The dangerous terrorists reside in Ain al-Helweh camp, Tripoli, and Arsal, and they work on creating al-Nusra Front in the camp and beginning military training in order to restructure the military body of al-Qaeda."
On a similar note, al-Jamhouriya pointed out to attempts in Akkar to buy lands for investment for huge amounts of money, considering that real estates in the North, especially in Akkar, are very cheap. However, the real reason behind buying these lands is to establish boot camps for terrorist cells who believe that the "Syrian regime will fall."
Likewise, security sources warned that "al-Qaeda and its affiliates seek to build an organizational structure in Lebanon based on a direct order from Osama Bin Laden's heir, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in order to execute terrorist acts against politicians, militants, and places of worship."
Consequently, the Lebanese Army's apprehension of a "new terrorist cell" confirmed what the Minister of Defense had said regarding the existence of al-Qaeda in Lebanon as well as the repeated assaults on the Lebanese Army's centers.
