Jordanians Burn US Flag to Protest Troop Deployment

Jordanians on Friday burnt the American flag and expressed rejection to presence of American troops in Jordan.
Several protests set off in a number of cities including Amman, Zarqa and Irbid lead by leftist and Islamist activists.
According to agencies, hundreds participated in a protest organized by Jordanian youth groups and nationalist parties in front of the Grand al-Husseini Mosque in which they chanted slogans demandinthat the US soldiers leave their country.
The participants carried banners and signs which read "The Jordanian Arab Army Protects Us" and "The US Presence Affects Our National Sovereignty". Protesters chanted "the Arab army [Jordan army] protect us" as they marched in central Amman.
Mass protests were witnessed in other Jordanian cities in which the participants voiced their rejection of enhancing the US military presence in Jordan.
Among the slogans chanted at the protests in the province of Arbad and al-Zarqaa were "The US Is Head of the Snake" and "Syria is Free, Let America out".
National Jordanian forces announced two days ago that they were getting ready to hold a national meeting under the motto "Protecting Jordan...Supporting Syria", stressing that Jordan will not be a passageway for aggression on Syria.
Jordan this week acknowledged the US had deployed 200 soldiers in its territories, but refused to link the issue to the Syrian crisis. However, media reports mentioned that the US soldier's deployed in the kingdom in sake of training Syria rebels.
