As the Syrian armed groups continue their breaches against the Lebanese sovereignty and innocent citizens, some Lebanese voices remained muted as these groups continue bombing Lebanese territories.
In details, two Lebanese citizens were martyred and 5 others were wounded Sunday as the Syrian armed groups bombed the Hermel region with 107 mm missiles.
According to al-Ahed news correspondent in the region, the militants' shelling on al-Qasr town led to the "martyrdom of Ali Kataya and the injury of Mohammed Rakan Kataya, Khadija Karam Kataya, Hiam Kataya and Mohammed Khalil Jaafar."
In parallel, the teenager Abbas Khairuddin [13 years old] was martyred and two others wounded as the armed groups' shelling targeted the Hosh Sayyed Ali village.
The shelling also hit the towns of Khariab Butm and al-Kwaykh, leaving material damage.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army issued a statement on the cross-border shelling.
"This afternoon, the border town of al-Qasr in the Hermel border region came under artillery shell fire from Syrian territory, killing one citizen, injuring three others and damaging several homes," the LA's statement read.
It further mentioned that its units were deployed widely across the area and took measures in the field necessary to protect people and respond to the source of the attack as appropriate.
For his part, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman condemned the shelling and called for halting such acts, which have only led to the killing of innocent Lebanese who have no connection to the ongoing clashes outside their town.
Suleiman also contacted Lebanese Army Commander, General Jean Qahwaji.
According to the National News agency, Qahwaji briefed the President on details of the LA's adopted measures in protection of citizens residing in the aforementioned town and surrounding area within the region of Hermel.
Similarly, Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Walid Sukaryeh stressed that the Syrian armed groups shelling on the Lebanese towns forms a clear violation to the Lebanese sovereignty."
In remarks to al-Ahed news site, held the state responsible for dragging the Syrian crisis to Lebanon.
"The former government used to condemn the fall of some Syrian Army's rockets on the Lebanese areas. However, the shelling comes from the militants," he added, wondering of the government's position against the blatant attack.
The MP also accused the countries supporting Syria's armed militants of being partners in shedding the Lebanese blood.
"These countries are also responsible for making the armed groups stop their criminal attack on Lebanon," he viewed.
In addition, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party MP Marwan Fares viewed that the armed groups' bombardment on Lebanese towns, prove their failure in Syria.
In an interview with al-Ahed news, Fares confirmed that "Syrian terrorist groups exploit some Syrians to bomb the Lebanese territory."
"These groups target only innocent civilians," he said, noting that "the Arab League and the countries supporting the armed opposition, led by United States are responsible for what happened."
He further wondered: "Where is the Arab League, and what is guilt of these civilians?"
"The AL's policy towards Syria is a mere implementation to the American Zionist project in the region, because Syria supports the resistance, and Palestine," the MP stated.
