Both the Lebanese Grand Shiite Jaafarite Mufti, Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan and Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani reiterated Tuesday the prohibition of the Sunni-Shiite strife, and the sanctity of the Muslim blood.
They also refused "all horns of sedition and meanings of sectarian incitement."
This comes as Qabalan headed a delegation from the Higher Islamic Shiite Council in a visit to Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani on Tuesday.
As he condemned the attack on four Sheikhs in Beirut on Sunday, Qabalan stressed that inter-Muslims discord is prohibited.
"We must face all attempts of sedition in our community and confront problems that could lead to fire of woes and tribulations in Lebanon, which stung from strenuous disagreements among politicians," Qabalan stated.
For his part, Qabbani urged the return to the national dialogue table, pointing out at the possibility that there could be a fifth column pushing the situation towards strife.
"I believe what happened is an early warning for us to keep vigil of strife because this how discord begins," he said.
The Grand Mufti further noted that a side might have purchased those, who assaulted the elders.
Moreover, he called all sides to face any bids to sow seeds of strife between Sunnis and Shiites, as well as between Muslims and Christians.
He added that Lebanon might not be away from what is happening in Syria and Iraq, which has become a model of destructing the state and fomenting civil wars at the service of the new world system.
