Lebanese President General Michel Suleiman reiterated that Lebanon will not engage in sectarian war, noting that it would not pay for the democracy of others.
The President made his remarks during a visit to the Lebanese Diaspora in the Ivory Coast.
He accentuated, "We must overcome turmoil surrounding Lebanon, hold on to the Baabda Declaration, and cease insurgents being sent and received from Syria. We must commit to neutralism."
Moreover, he pointed out, "The 1960s electoral law does not give the result we want any more according to the Taif Agreement."
"We must take reinforcing the Lebanese Army into consideration. The Army is the symbol of national unity; it countered terrorism and stood up to "Israel" beside the resistance. Let us supply it with the appropriate equipment, plan a defense strategy, and benefit from the resistance's capabilities until the Army can defend itself and restore security," the President stressed.
