Syrian Bus Crash in Lebanon: 8 Dead

Eight people were killed and 29 others were wounded after a bus carrying Syrian nationals overturned Friday morning on the Kahaleh highway east of Beirut, the Lebanese Red Cross said.
"The evacuation had been called off three hours after the accident, which took place around 4:45, am," Red Cross official George Kettaneh said.
Security sources confirmed that the bus, which carried a Syrian license plate, tipped over at the steep slope at Kahaleh in the district of Aley, Mount Lebanon, about 13 kilometers from the capital.
Lebanese Red Cross teams rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals.
The sources said the bus, registered in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakeh, was heading to Beirut when the accident took place.
The highway was blocked in both directions after the fatal crash and police diverted traffic off the main road.
Efforts were still under way to remove the bus and clear the road.
