Syrian Foreign Ministry stressed that the escalation over the recent period of direct arms supply to extremist terrorists belonging to Jabhat al-Nusra.
In two identical letters addressed to the Chairman of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General, the ministry underscored how those terrorists are spreading terrorism in Syria and shedding the Syrians' blood.
"This aims to thwart the comprehensive national dialogue which the Syrian leadership and government are working to activate as the only way out of the crisis," the letters read.
They further noted that "it is noticeable how violence spread by the armed terrorist groups with foreign support would escalate every time there was progress towards activating the course of the political settlement."
In parallel, Syria accused the US, the EU and the Arab League of escalating the situation.
"The systematic destruction of the Syrian State's facilities witnessed daily in Syria with the use of European weapons is a clear evidence of the influx of arms from those same countries which announce arms embargo on Syria," the letters mentioned.
In this context, Damascus recalled the recent statements of Saudi Foreign Minister, Saud al-Faisal, in which he said that his country will continue weapons supply to the armed terrorist groups in Syria.
It also referred to the British Foreign Secretary's statement on the training of gunmen in Syria.
The Ministry's letters slammed the EU's decision to sell, supply, transfer or export "non-lethal military equipment" to the opposition as "another clear evidence" of the involvement in supporting the gunmen while using "pompous expressions".
The letters also lashed out at the US State Secretary's statement made in Saudi Arabia in which he said that his country supports the access of arms to "the moderate groups", saying this statement raises series questions on the extent to which the US is committed to the peaceful solution in Syria.
The Ministry cautioned against the dangerous repercussions of some Arab and Western countries' insistence on the approach of supporting the terrorism responsible for the widespread destruction and the continued bloodshed in Syria.
"This raises questions on the credibility of those countries' claim of commitment to supporting the peaceful solution to the crisis in [Syria]," the letters read.
