Bassil: US Supports Lebanon in Oil File

Lebanese Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil revealed that Lebanon received a renewed and encouraging US support to move forward in the file of oil exploration and do performing all the panned steps.

In an interview with as-Safir Lebanese daily, Bassil highlighted that during his two-hours meeting with the American delegation, the atmosphere was very positive.

"There was a clear encouragement to us," the minister said, and pointed out that the "US delegation praised all the professional and transparent work we've done based on the highest international standards."

He further stated that the Americans are our partners in the biggest companies.

"Jamming neither offers nor delays. We have imposed facts on the ground, in the internal and foreign arenas," Bassil mentioned.

In parallel, he confirmed that "no one is able to stop our work, and everyone is dealing with us on this basis."

Meanwhile, as-Safir learned that Bassil stressed during the meeting Lebanon's right to its full economic boundaries as well as its right over the disputed maritime territory with "Israel".
