Lebanese Al-Akhbar daily mentioned, Saturday that "Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour's demand to reinstate Syria in the Arab League was not lonely and not far from the official Lebanese policy regarding this issue."
In this context, the daily revealed that the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman had expressed such a stance during his visit to Romania.
The paper pointed out that on 27 February 2012, during his stay at the Hilton Hotel in Bokharest, Suleiman stated, "We must deliberate reinstating Syria in the AL, since Lebanon opposed its membership being suspended."
Moreover, al-Akhbar added, "However Suleiman was distant from what Mansour had stated in the latest session of the Arab Foreign Ministers, having said that he is waiting for Mansour to return to Beirut to speak to him."
In addition, Suleiman requested the Prime Minister Najib Mikati to send a message to Mansour as a sort of opposition on the latter's stance.
Earlier, Mansour urged the AL in the recent Arab Foreign Ministers' session to restore Syria's revoked membership, calling on "to find a balanced political solution that ends Syria's war."
"The Syrian crisis hurts us all; we are helpless to achieve a political solution through dialogue, and we showed the world that we have failed and all we succeeded in is suspending Syria's membership in the Arab League," the FM noted.
