Former PM Karami: Mufti Qabbani’s Concern Maintenance of Unity

Former Lebanese Prime Minister Omar Karami told Lebanese as-Safir daily that he had listened to Mufti Qabbani regarding the Legal Council elections, indicating that the Mufti's sole purpose is to maintain unity, not to politicise the Legal Council nor reap personal gain.

Karami added, "[Former PM] Fouad Siniora phoned me and we deliberated amendments and reformations [to the Dar al-Fatwa]," underscoring, "we agreed that our main concern is the public's interest not that of any party, and we will maintain the Mufti's dignity and post until the end of his term a year and a half from now."
